Split. 5 of 8 after I thought about it a bit.

Not a bad flick. Good cameo at the very, very end. Sets it up for more of them.

Sorgenfri (Denmark-2015)

Horror: "What We Become" A family in a small town in Denmark wake up to to find that the town has been quarantined and that they are not allowed to leave their house. This is one of the better realistic zombie flicks... 6.5/8

Death's Head (1973)

Horror: A woman gets an idea from a gypsy to murder her husband in order to be with his best friend... 4.5/8

Annie Hall (1977) - I have waited a long time to see this film. I should not have waited so long. It really is a masterpiece and Woody Allen is truly funny in this film. Liberal perspective but he does a good job of making fun of everyone. I especially like his read on LA media types. Quite a few big stars making bit appearances as they were getting their careers started. Christopher Walken gets his start as a creepy young man.

The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

Forrest Gump meets a PG Bad Grandpa. Probably pretty close to a Scandinavian version of azwc. Free on Prime at the moment.

It caught me in the right mood for it, and I found it quite entertaining. Like many movies, enjoying it is directly proportional to a willingness to suspend one's disbelief.

Refuge

7/8

This is a stunning ultra low budget movie following a family in post apocalyptic America. A pandemic has wiped out a good portion of the human race and the survivors eek out a wretched existence on the bones of a collapsed civilization.

The power of this film is that it's obviously a labor of love and it's low budget actually works in it's favor. The movie is bleak but very realistic which adds to the tension. Weird but effective music and a haunting cinematography that creates a claustrophobic sense of menace around every corner.

Like a lot of the great indie low budget horror movies from the 1970/80's this one evokes a naturalistic feel that is quite effective. No CGI here, just raw events. The movie starts slow but builds as it goes on.

The Hateful 8: 5/8

I tend to like Tarantino's stuff, though I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of his. This one had a "murder mystery" type vibe to it that his movies don't always have. It was a little slow in the beginning and is a little long at 168 minutes. Would have benefited from a quicker pace at the beginning.

Manchester By The Sea - Outstanding film. My choice over LaLa Land, Hacksaw Ridge and Hell or High Water (I have not seen the rest) for best picture.

Evidence (2013)

Horror: Two girls video tape their trip to Las Vegas but something goes horribly wrong at an abandoned gas station. The only thing that remains are the camera's and a body count. It is up to a detective to try and figure what happened and who the killer is by viewing the contents on the cameras. Was interesting at first but went down hill and bombed at the climax... 3.0/8

Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990)

Horror: I've been trying to find this for a long time and finally stumbled upon it. This one has nothing to do with the previous 3 and is about a reporter who investigate the horrific suicide of a woman who set herself on fire and jumped off a building. Something witchy is going on.... too bad there ids no serial killing Santa in this one.... 3.0/8

Satanic (2016)

Horror: A group of friends touring LA occult kill spots accidentally witness a satanic ritual. Haley from Modern Family is in this one. Not too bad for what it was... 4.5/8

Jack The Ripper (Switzerland-1976)

Horror: Jesús Franco wrote and directed so you know there will be plenty of woman taking off their clothes. Jack is killing prostitutes and Scotland Yard tries to figure it out. Some real disturbing images in this version ... 5.0/8

Adam's Rib (1949) - Silly, funny story of married attorneys on opposite sides of a court case. It is a real "battle of the sexes" type movie. You cannot beat Tracy and Hepburn (unless you have Bogey and Becall).

Bridge of Spies

Really disappointing ending. Was glued to the story for half of the movie, but it just didn't deliver. I might just have to pick up the book.

Dark Vengeance (1973)

Horror: Frank (Martin Sheen) unearths a strange box at a construction site but cannot figure out how to open it... Whats in the box? Well, something sinister for sure as the wife starts to have nightmares and Frank becomes obsessed with the box. OK, Martin Sheen really over plays his part in this ridiculous story.... 3.0/8

Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker (1991)

Horror: I do believe this one is the last of the series and like #4 has nothing to do with the others. Somebody is making toys that kill and they are targeting young little Derek. Traumatized, Derek also has to deal with a creepy Santa.... Mickey Rooney is in this one which is very strange since he attacked the first movie for having a killer Santa Clause.... The Toy Maker is ridiculous and defies reality but that did not seem to matter to me as I still enjoyed it... 5.0/8

Man on Fire.

6.8 of 8. Very good, had never seen it before.

SERIES Stranger Things. Loved it. Had never ehard of it until we watched all of season 1 in two evenings. Loved the 80's settings and found a lot of old movies/shows shoutouts to it. New season this fall as well.

Night of the Living Deb (2015)

Horror/Comedy: Annoying Deb is trying to hook up with the hot guy in town but gets extremely wasted and is surprised that she wakes up in his bed.... but something is a bit off, the neighborhood is taken over by zombies.... It lost it's charm halfway thru... 3.5/8

The Childhood of a Leader (UK-2015)

Drama/horror elements: Listed as a horror flick and the score plays like one but it is really a drama with horror elements. The build up is there for something to happen but it never quite does.... anyhow, we are back in the WW1 days in France at an American's diplomats house where his young boy acts out in tantrums that escalate over time... 5.0/8

The Cold (1984)

Horror: aka "The Game". 3 elderly millionaires are bored so they invent this game to entertain them. 9 contestants are brought to an island and the last one remaining wins 1 million dollars. This had some potential that fell flat and then flat again.... 2.0/8

Tomie vs Tomie (Japan-2007)

Horror: 8th installment of the series. This one took awhile to figure out with the broken subtitles but I think i got the jest of it. The blood of the original Tomie is injected into two infants who grow into identical Tomies that despise each other and crave the original blood. Tomie is mystified that the new guy doesn't fall for her and learns that he had once murdered one of the earlier Tomies and is suffering from it. If you have never seen a Tomie movie or no off the Mange then this is likely very confusing to you.... lol, 4.0/8

The Lego Batman Movie: 6/8

On par with the first Lego Movie in quality. The movie itself is a mix between The Lego Movie and Deadpool. A very fun movie to watch with good humor all throughout.

Horror: Serial killer, strange stick dolls, detective, people going crazy.... 3.5/8

Cellar Dweller (1988)

Horror: A woman cartoonist ends up at a school that once housed her idol to learn that the monster she sketched has come to life and is killing off the residents... cheezy... 4.0/8

Under the Shadow (UK-2016)

Horror: During the Iran/Iraq war a woman and her daughter struggle while having to deal with a sinister Djinn. Watch it in its original language (Persian) and this film has one of the top 10 jump/scare scenes of all time.... I am not a huge fan of jump scares just for the heck of it but all but one are actually legit and not just thrown in. Really enjoyed this one but I am sure some will think its boring.... 6.0/8

Tales of Halloween (2015)

Horror: Anthology of 10 Halloween tales. I only liked 3 of them... 3.0/8
