McBride has lead his team to the districts finals the past four years, winning the district two of those four years. Hard to argue with his success. Lake is best battle tested team out of the group and a clear favorite. WGH minus Culver is a huge impact loss for them, Ellet is not a strong tournament team, Boardman is good but not exceptional. This is Lake's district to lose.

I wouldn't quite say that Lake is the clear favorite.

They did lose to Ellet at a neutral site already.

I think the favorites are Ellet, Lake, and Harding.

Question for the Ellet guys- What's AJ Gareris status? Did he reinjure the same foot/ankle that he hurt last summer? Hope for the Orange's sake that it is fairly minor.

I don't think you will have to worry about playing Ellet again. Tournament run and one regular season game are two different platforms. Read what I am saying again, Lake historically, and they have made the district final four years in a row, are the CLEAR favorite in this weak district. I know you like to downplay your team this year but McBride will have those kids tournament ready and I've seen all top teams play except Ellet. I'm never impressed with Ellet until they actually do something in the tournament.

Take Lake all day , everyday in this district. McBride has enough talent available and is the best coach in that district.

We shall see, I do agree with you about Ellet. I thought we would play them the past few years, but they always lost before we got the chance.

I'm not downplaying the team this year, it's pretty clear they are not as dominate as the last 4 years. They could still win this "down" district, but it's not gonna be as easy as some of you seem to think it is.

I agree with you other teams like Ellet, WGH, Boardman, and who knows what Louisville team could show up, aforementioned first three teams could definitely beat Lake. I don't discount the fact these teams will come to play, all of them. However in my opinion Lake is the favorite in the district based upon quality wins and their strength of schedule. I will root for Louisville of course but I have great respect for what Coach McBride does with his teams year after year in the tournament. It what makes the tournament great, anything can happen but I like the horse called Blue Streaks!

Yappi will become famous soon enough
Ellet needs to be healthy to have a good shot. Lake is probably the favorite even with everyone healthy at the rest of the schools.

What is nice about this district is that there are alot of potential good matchups in the later rounds. No clear-cut team that is going to automatically dominate this district.

He could be back tom. (2/3) at Firestone.
Slight sprain, no rush to get him back. He'll be fine from what ive heard.

if anyone thinks there is a clear favorite in this district they haven't been paying much attention this season.

Thanks for the info OM, that's good to hear. Had noticed him absent from a few recent box scores and feared the worst. Obviously a whole different team without him. Kinda bummed Copley got moved out of Alliance, as I was really looking forward to seeing the Indians potentially play Ellet & Lake again. Those were great games last year.

Looks like Lake will most likely be 13-6 come seeding time (they are currently 13-5, but play Jackson on Friday). Is that good enough for a #2 seed?
I would guess Ellet as the #1, then hopefully Lake and then Harding/Boardman as the 3/4.

Sounds right to me. Boardman has a pretty weak schedule. They have a game against Perry later this season and if they struggle with that one it could be indicative of the real strength of the Spartans.

Either way, should be a good district. I actually like the #3 seed the best because then you get to chose which side of the bracket you want to go into.

Boardman defeats Howland to move to 13-3. Playing well as a team.

Perry is probably near the bottom of the Fed, but I see they beat McKinley and looks like had one game around 10 pt loss to Lake. So, I don't think they will be a game we should be disappointed if we don't win easily. I would be a little disappointed if we didn't win though at home.

Boardman should win both games this week vs Lakeview and Lakeside. If so they'd be at 15-3 heading into selection Sunday and next Tuesday's game with Perry.

Ellet sits at 14-3 with games at Akron North and home vs. Massillon this week.

A convincing win over Massillon would probably lock up the #1 seed but like and earlier poster mentioned, that #3 spot is probably the best one to have!

Assuming it's Ellet and Lake #1&#2, I wonder what side Boardman jumps on. Where does Lake go if they somehow ended up #3?

I think whoever gets the 3 seed, will position themselves in Ellets bracket.
Ellet has not been the team Fisher hoped for. Their 14-3 record is very deceiving!
I don't think Ellet will make it out of that district. They may even get bounced early!

Just depends on which Ellet team shows up. I can see them winning this district fairly easily and I could also see them getting bounced.
If they rebound, make shots and don't turn the ball over they are very good. Inconsistency has been their issue, they have talent.

They played great for 3 1/2 qtrs against a solid Firestone team the other night.
How they finish up here will tell us alot. Massillon, Buchtel (City title game), Green and Jackson. I want to see the same effort I saw Friday.

Warren Harding won last night. They don't play any more games before the draw. So they are locked in at 13-6. I am guessing a #4 seed. Maybe a #3, but doubt it.

Boardman also won last night, now at 14-3. They have Ashtabula Lakeside on Friday on the road. They beat Lakeside by 34 the last time, but making a decent trip up there for the game, so I could see this one being a little closer.

More than likely Boardman should be 15-3 heading into the draw. I'd say probably 3 seed, but no worse than 4.

Looks like we know the top four seeds. Just not sure where they are going to land.
I would have to go with this, at this point.

1. Ellet
2. Boardman
3. Lake
4. Harding

Lake probably gets the #2 over Boardman, but I would rather see Lake at the #3 spot.

Actually, correction on Boardman's Friday game. They actually travel to Ytown East. The Panthers have put a scare into both Harding and Boardman on the road, so this could be a tough one.

Ellet to 15-3 after beating a hapless Ak.North team 88-27.
Ellet host Massillon this Friday.
