Interesting early votes.

So how are tryouts going? Any surprises for any of the Suburban League American teams?

I'm going to try to make it to Barberton vs Perry to get a look at the Magics new era. Going to be some excitement in the Magic City this season.

My predictions..Copley will repeat as they will reload. JV Team went 22-0 last season, not to mention they may have the best player in Suburban League in Brian Roberts... Followed by Barberton....the 2 transfer students will make an immediate impact.

Did either of them play with Barberton in the summer games?

From what I saw, both Tallmadge varsity and JV were very competitive, especially since neither has a center. It's somewhat hard to tell against East as they were surprisingly weak at both levels. Glenoak on the other hand was a decent team and both varsity and JV had a good showing against them.
Tallmadge basketball will need to rely on defense and running the floor because of their size.

Pretty sure a couple of East's better players are still playing football (playoffs).

Did they not have cuts yet? Looked like they had 20+ kids between JV/Varsity. They had some decent players and decent size.

How about a preseason all league team:

I've got:

F/C - Pete Nance (Revere)
F - Jordan Greynolds (Barberton)
G - Colin Rittman (Highland)
G - Zane Reis (Barberton)
G - Brian Roberts (Copley)

Who am I missing?

Austin Brenner from Copley barely missed being 1st team last year, so it would be very surprising if he isn't 1st team this season.

Don't remember all 8, but I'm pretty sure of 5; Nealy & Harvey (Copley), Nance (Revere), Neubert (Kent), Wiencek (Highland). Fairly sure the other 3 were from the group of Woolridge & Walker (Barberton), Fayne (Aurora), Rittman (Highland), & Helderman (Tallmadge). I know Nealy was SLA POY.

11-19: Copley v Hoban; 16-14, 7-13, 16-11: Copley v Struthers; 26-11, 18-13, 26-13. Scores might be off a point or two, but close. Played 12 minute quarters.

11-23: Copley v Lake; Played 7 (maybe 8) quarters, pretty well split them in terms of W's. Copley had the better of it early, Lake the better of it late. Guessing Blue Streaks outscored Indians overall by 8-10.

Other than the first 2 quarters there was only maybe 1 quarter that the first teams matched up. Lakes 17-5 quarter was their first team vs Copley's 3rd and then Copley's 1st ran against lakes 3rd. So tough to tell what this match up will bring with 4 quarters of the best and real subs. It was fun basketball though!!
