Amen to that!

Wow! Comparing those report cards is quite surprising. Has Steubenville gone through some kind of educational renaissance?

Funny you failed to include Jackson since it was Mackbiner that posted the info. Wonder why ?

Maybe their grades were always pretty good. We shouldn't assume. Perhaps that is part of Easterling's message about ESL.

For those whining about "Let's talk football" - hard to break down the game in July. The topic is the articles and the reason behind them.

I think most would be very surprised if they looked at the way the Department of Education graded Steubenville schools in the past.

Unfortunately, perception is a tough thing to battle.

Jackson is an excellent district with a very affluent white collar base, emanating from Belden Village Mall and surrounding retail development. Congrats to them. Even more impressive that Steubenville compares favorably, per that source anyhow.

Back to football. Though understandable why you 2 would focus on anything but.

My guess is 5,000

The booster club isnít going to pay a team to travel 12 hours to get beat. I donít think my fellow Massillon faithful will come out to see the Tigers was a team by 30 points.

Iíd rather see us take the challenge and schedule a Iggy or a team alike.

Always with the "my" and "us" LOL. You sure try hard I'll give you that but what a loser. What year did you graduate again?

Think Hoover will turn the corner this year or have you completely give up?

Not sure if you are saying Massillon is going to win by 30 or lose by 30? I'm surprised either way. I thought it may be a real good game. I've never been to PBTS and was targeting this as a possible good game to see. But would rather not travel that far for a 30 point blowout? Fill me in on your thoughts and reasoning. You would know more than I would. Thanks for any insight.

Idk much about this team but our out of state opponent last year was a loss to a pretty impressive team from NY, led by a D1 Qb recruit. I hope they are good, but maybe not that good, lol.

Meant to type wax a team by 30, but that darn autocorrect!

The booster club isnít going to pay for a loss in my opinion, sure ESTL has some individual talent but those inner city teams donít play as one unit and usually give up once their down.

Iíd recommend coming to the Massillon McK game, maybe the same outcome but better atmosphere

Last year, the game against Canisius NY was attended by 4841 on a dry night with temperatures in the upper 60's.

Massillon attendance has been trending down. ESL might not bring 100 fans.

Give us the team whose attendance has been trending up over the last 5-10 years. Nobody would be surprised if ESL didnít bring 100 fans.

Massillon vs. McKinley is a game that I have wanted to check out for awhile. But it always seems to fall the same day as Ignatius vs. Eds. So I have been going to that game. But this could be the year. Rumor is Iggy vs. Eds might be on Friday night at First Energy, and Massillon vs. McKinley is on Saturday. I could finally see both games. That is my hope!!

Think you might be in luck.
Arbiter is showing Eds/Iggy on a Friday evening.

Iggy's site is also showing a Friday night.

Mass vs Mck is at 2pm. Iggy vs Edís is at 7 or 7:30 plenty of time to get to the second game from Canton or Massillon.

This thread has reached its expiration date. Some final thoughts:

1. It's still puzzling that the paper would spend money on this. With so many other more important issues going on, why an investigative series on this?
2. The theme of the articles were positive and at times seem to imply ESL had progressed beyond Massillon in some areas.
3. Making the ESL team seem invincible helps the Tigers win or lose.
