Massillon vs East St Louis
Gatehouse publishing (owners of the Repository and Independent) sent award-winning journalist Christ Easterling to do a four part series on the East St louis team and community. This is the second of the four installments:
http://www.cantonrep.com/news/201807...eep-football/1
Am I missing something here? Are they reaching for a comparison between the two communities (If so, I don't see it).Are they just trying to save a dying paper? Or is it just summer reading, much ado about nothing?

I bet he was easy to pick out of the crowd.
What’s next, spending a weekend in the hood of Chicago looking for the next big time athlete.
I’m glad you made it out Chris lol

What is the point of this poll ?
It is crystal clear to me, who started it and who was the 2nd to post it must be for the Massillon obsessed trolls to have something to talk about this summer.

Having stopped for gas in both communities, I prefer Massillon when getting gas

He made it out of East Saint Louis but I suspect his approval rating in the hometown of The Independent has taken a hit. The piece is designed to highlight the similarities of the two communities. That's a pretty unflattering look for Massillon when it's being compared to a city which recently was said to have had the highest homicide rate of any city in the United States.
(By the way, I thought all four choices in the poll were appropriate but I was only allowed to select one.)

I dunno. Still trying to figure out the angle here (newspaper guys always have an angle).
Could just be a homer hype piece (make the opposing team look great puts you in a win-win situation).
Maybe its just so we all can feel good about where we live ? Let's see the rest of the story.

Steubenville might have been the better comparison.

Will this game draw a good sized crowd, weather permitting?

Correct. Those two towns are two sides of the same coin. Exception being that Steuby (like East St louis) has won recent championships on the field.

When will give up your obsessive negative opinions of everything is Massillon? Your comparison of Massillon and Steubenville is laughable.

Interesting. I suspect this is the same thing those in Steubenville are saying about being associated with Massillon.
What does that say?

The Massillon obsession lives on. The jealousy that you have is so admiring, it must be rough to read about a team on the Tiger schedule in OCTOBER, and not a peep about the girls in purple. LMAO

Leading the poll - Moore, having saved one life, is now seeking to save an entire community. Very admirable.

I saw the headline a couple days ago about the communities being parallel or whatever and it kind of surprised me. Massillon has had its troubles but its nothing like East St. Louis, not even close.
Just GateHouse's hyper-local reporting I guess. Half of the time the front page is about some dude's stamp collection.

But, according to the article today, those kids don't need saved. They're doing better already. It said 100 percent of Class of 2018 regular-education students were accepted into two- or four-year colleges, military or trade schools. It's like Easterling is saying Massillon is the one that needs to step up their game to catch up to East Saint Louis.

Some of you guys above are really dense. I was comparing E. St. Louis with Steubenville, not Massillon.

I thought you meant that. However, the obsessors didn’t interpret it that way.

By the way, good luck to the folks and the young people in East St. Louis.

I feel like the articles are (1) trying to build hype for the game, and (2) busy work during a slow off-season for high school sports reporters. With the game being week 7, building hype seems kind of odd this far off, so I'm leaning more toward #2.

I will say however that given Steubenville's other challenges and demographics they are doing A LOT of things right academically for their district. Very impressive.

This thread is titled Massillon vs. East St. Louis. Why can't you guys just post about the game between Massillon and East St. Louis. It really would be nice to just read things about the game and not all the crazy crap/garbage some of you clowns write about.
