When it is your turn to pick, what restaurant are you going to?

You have a family get together and you are in charge of picking the restaurant, where are you going?

Went out to eat with family last Tuesday, and donít know what the hell was going on. First tried to get in at a local BBQ joint, then a local Italian eatery, before settling for a local Mexican restaurant, when the other 2 places had too long of a wait. Place was packed, but got seated right away. Had to wait 30 minutes to place our dinner order, but got our drinks right away. Overall, turned out to be a great pick, though, because for some reason, knew everyone in there ... and what a fiesta we had!

Miller's Ale House in Columbus
Great ambience, big menu selection, something for everyone, and roomy enough for larger family groups.

(Mrs. Zunardo's pick) Ichiban - S. Hamilton Rd in Columbus
They have the best flavor of hibachi meals we've tried. Perfect for families with younger kids.

Had a neighbor who went to UD and swore by the place. Whenever I used to stop by I would get a sub. Didnt know they expanded.

There are a couple things I miss about Cincinnati, first is skyline. But down here in Texas there are no good bakeries like Busken or Servattis. (What I would give for some of their pretzels and dips). The other thing is there are no good deli/sub shops where I am located. Utter travesty

I usually pick the dilly deli, even though their food is average at best. Great tap selection and I usually know 3-4 people in there at any given time.

The one on Tylersville closed a couple of months ago, I was surprised they always seemed busy. Food is always good, not usually impressed with the service.

I'm going with El Rancho Grande or Nuevo depending where you"re at. I love Mexican food and I love a good margarita and in my book there is no better place for both.

ERG is legit. I could make a meal out of their chips/salsa alone.

I try to go for value. Most places have good enough food that I don't worry too much about it.

The high end places typically are not worth it whatsoever. The taste-to-dollar ratio doesn't add up in my book once an individual meal gets to be 25 bucks and up.

Places I will stay away from are the japeneese steak houses. You pay as much, or more, for the 'entertainment' of them cooking it in front of you. Also places like Melting Pot where, again, you are paying for the experience at the table and not the food.

I wont go to those places again. I am paying good money for food, I don't want to also have to cook the damn stuff at my table. I come there for someone ELSE to cook it, not bring it all to may table and have us tinker with what coating we want and/or how long to cook the dang stuff.

THAT IS WHAT I AM PAYING YOU TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, I love the Melting Pot. My wife and I go there often for special occasions. I have heard a lot of people make the same complaint as you though. Their Green Goddess dip might be the best condiment on the planet.

You can tell it's themed around that but with that part of Covington becoming more hip it's more of just a regular bar and grill nowadays.

I thought i was mistakenly believing it was a horse bar just because of the name. Dang didnt actually know it was lol. Figure it wouldnt actually attract anyone bc there isnt a track or training center nearby.

Is mainstrausse still a good place to find some easy dumpster trash? Place was the dry spell ender.

Don't recall having that, but I may have. About the only thing I can think of that was cool was the dessert portion of it. If I would go back it would be just for that part and likely actual dinner elsewhere.

We had a group of 6 and by the time you figured out how exactly to cook it, the coating you like and everything else there was no more food left to cook.

As I said, I look for bang for the buck. Past weekend went to a place in Indy and for the 3 of us it was just over $200. Food and drinks were good, but for $200, not so much. I don't know if it is just because I am paying for it generally, but I have a total connection between dollars and how well the food tastes. The rest of it, like ambiance and atmosphere I get it, you pay for that too but getting down to it the food is what makes or breaks a place.

Went to The Avenue in Dublin last month. Same thing. Food was good, but comparing it to what was paid.....not so much.

Of all the higher priced places I have been, only Carson's Ribs (Milwaukee..think in Chicago as well) really has lived up to its billings!

College Inn is outstanding! Remember when they started out in the old house? Sam is good people. Polinariís is great as well. What was the little joint that served Caribbean cuisine that was in the NE end?

Head north a little bit and I really like Wingers although I thought they were better before they moved.. Thought Bullies in Sindey used to be very good too but they shut up shop moons ago.
