Question Would you do this challenge for 100k?

My answer would be "Hell no." The starting price would have to be life changing money, like $5 million, and I'd have to be guaranteed no permanent health damage (mainly eyes) or mental issues (lose your mind). Even then I'd be lucky to make it a week.

I can't believe the guy did it on a bet. It would be more like "if I complete this challenge, you give me 100k...that's it." Even then not worth the risk.

For an adult, I don't think there would be any permanent damage to their eyes, but the person would likely need a few days to adjust back to light. The mental stress would probably be too much for me.

Not sure if anyone remember this experiment back in the 1960's. The thing I remember most about it was that the subjects' sense of time was greatly altered - they thought less time had passed because their sleep cycles became longer:

Offhand, I don't know enough about the "risks". The mental aspect doesn't worry me so much, but I'd have to have a VERY detailed conversation with a VERY qualified eye specialist before I'd even remotely consider it. ($100K isn't especially life changing, but even just damaging my sight certainly would be.)

Many people are surprised to find this out, but most professional poker players are not inclined to take a lot of crazy gambles. You actually spend an inordinate amount of your time trying to figure out how to reduce or avoid them. That said, the game gets boring, so silly prop bets happen all the time - I've definitely had my share of having to show up to card rooms wearing silly costumes because of dumb lost props.

IIRC, didn't you already lose a bet involving your wife and 14Red? Something about him playing baseball in college, I think?

He wasnt able to prove it.

Told him we could take it to PM's if he was worried about his privacy.

Thought you lost the bet, but couldnít remember exactly how it all played out.

So, he couldnít prove he played because he wasnít willing to send any proof through PM?

I think I'd last about twenty minutes.

Now, if they gave me a tiny reading light and a few books I'd be game

Lots of interesting commentary in the poker community on twitter about this.

I think I could do it. 100k cash is a lot of money to these guys, the person doing the challenge has 300k in lifetime tournament cashes, who knows how much in entry fees though. Most pros are null and void of any emotions because of the swings of the game, so I'm sure his mental state will be unaffected by this.

If you meditated, had a workout routine, a solid diet, and sleep schedule and just repeated that 30 days in a row, it wouldnt be too hard.

Welllllll, I don't know if I would say most...

The highest level people are extremely good at controlling them, but there is no shortage of emotional basketcases in poker.

Iíve been involved in the poker community for 15 years. The highest level players are for the most part narcisistic sociopaths who, as mentioned, are lacking in almost any emotions.

The people you are referencing are not pros, they are losing mongoloids.

Thatís what Iím saying. No responsibility, no nagging significant other. And to get paid about $139/hr for such tranquility sounds amazing.

Ageed. The people saying they wouldn't do it would change their tune after about 90 minutes in my house
