These refs have gotten a lot of calls wrong on out of bounds. One earlier was egregious. How can you swat a ball behind you out of bounds if your arm is going forward?

When I saw that happen my brain froze for a split second. There were a couple others I agree but neither team really did themselves any help with poor shooting in the first half.

The thing I was most irritated about honestly was that neither team would even TRY to box out at any point.

The horrid first half (mainly first quarter) really hurt the Jackets. I don't care who you are playing, 2 points in a quarter is unacceptable at any level.

Right and they just left so many points on the board with layups missed and short jumpers that wouldn't fall.

Yes very dissapointing. Gordan is a great talent but to be a great player he cant allow his team to lose to Fairmont. He should have attempted 15 more shots and put that team on his back. He is still young but this loss was dissapointing. Jackets need a big bounce back game.

Tall order when the bounce back game is at Centerville on Tuesday. The Elks have ended more than a couple Sidney seasons in the tournament over the last decade including the 20 point loss in the sectional final last year.

Tonight's game is the 10th meeting between the Jackets and Elks. Centerville is undefeated in the series at 9-0 including last year's 67-47 sectional final win.

A bit surprised honestly. I'm not even sure Sidney had the lead once in the tournament game last season. Hopefully they can keep it up in the 2nd half.

That's a tough loss to swallow after battling all game against a team they've never beaten.

Sidney Daily News

Sidney led most of the way, but Centerville pulled out a 52-50 thriller over the Yellow Jackets in Greater Western Ohio Conference crossover action Tuesday night at Centerville.

The loss was the second in a row for the Jackets and leaves them at 9-3 on the year heading into another road game Friday at Fairborn, which was 6-6 going into action at Beavercreek Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets led after each of the first three quarters, including by three after the third at 39-36.

However, they were outscored 16-11 in the final period, all 16 Centerville points coming from two players, including 11 by Keegan Saban, who was scoreless in the first three periods.

Sidney misfired at the free throw line, hitting just 14 of 26 for the game.

Centerville also held an 8-2 edge in three-pointers.

Isaiah Bowser led the Jackets in scoring with 18 and Andre Gordon added 17.

Leaving 12 points at the FT line definitely killed them. Just have to put it behind them and focusing on getting back on track at Fairborn on Friday. Can't allow a losing streak to snowball.

Mr. Yellow Jacket 06, Don't take this post the wrong way as I am simply posing a couple of questions along with a few comments of my own OP. So this is in no way a large scale criticism of the program or a certain student athlete. With that being said, it is my belief that for the Sidney program to get to that next level, Gordan has to be more assertive and understand that for his team to win games like this he has to score and score in bunches. I know it may not be his make-up and he has no problem dishing out assist and playing team ball which is great and I think transfers to the next level much easier. But at Sidney HS in 2017, that kid may need to get 40 on some nights and even if not every night he need to shoot enough to get close to it. Otherwise I believe his talent will be marginalized because he just does not have the talent around him to be a dish first PG. I think a great example of this is the Great HS career of Lukeey the Dukey (Kennard). He played in a similar environment with a decent supporting group but in order for his team to win they needed him to score and boy did he! That's the mindset Gordan needs to have. If his or the coaches mindset does not change I think the probability of him leaving increases. His PG, mentality in Sidney is going to lead to frustration with losing. Going somewhere with more talent could flourish his PG skills. If his mindset changes and that coach says, "Dude, I need you to score!" and he does and the bigger wins come then maybe he stays??? Who knows. I just think with his talent, the talent around him and the talent he plays against, he should be a 30-35 a night guy. That gives that team the best chance to win vs. tougher comp. My two cents...

He is averaging nearly 18 FG's attempted per game. That's up from 11 last season. I'm not sure chucking up 25-30 shots is going to pay dividends. Andre is at his best when driving the lane and either finishing at the rim or kicking it out for an open look. He simply isn't as good of a perimeter shooter that a guy like Kennard was.

Top games this year...

40 - 13/28 FG - 1/4 3P - 13/13 FT
31 - 9/19 FG - 1/4 3P - 12/19 FT
30 - 10/19 FG - 6/12 3P - 4/4 FT
29 - 12/20 FG - 4/10 3P - 1/1 FT

Getting to the FT line is a big part of his game.

Tonight is the 42nd meeting between the Sidney and Fairborn dating back to 1954. Jackets lead series 27-15 but Skyhawks have won 6 out of last 7.

Jack Kramer and Chuck McBee are heading down to cover the game on www.scoresbroadcast.com
