FC is incredibly tough to find. The keyword search has to be “William V.”; a search for “Fisher” doesn’t pull up FC. This is one of the shortcomings, IMO, with the Arbiter website compared to OHSAA: poor search function.

Arbiter's search algorithm only works with the beginning string of an entry. If that's not included, it will not find a match.

But things like:

Akron East fail,
But
East Akron finds the school.

Almost all directional schools work this way. Schools named for people, such as Fischer Catholic have such an issue depending if their first name is given.

What makes Ashtabula Edgewood so tough is that it combines the name of their middle school (first) and high school (second) as one. But since the names are vastly different, you'll never find it unless you know. And the fact arbiter could be used nationally makes switching naming conventions impossible. OHSAA designations would be much more clear cut.

But it DOES have a search function. Eitel's doesn't so a lot of hunt and pecking, when not an expert in who is in what region.

Generally in those cases I find it easier to just start at Google. Same worked for Arbiterlive.

Fisher Catholic arbiterlive into google took me right to their page.

But Joe also compiles his by week in a simple text format that makes searching easy.

And if you're not 100% sure where a team is, you can click through schedules of one team to the next until you find it. Clicking through from school to school is not available on arbiter.

For what it’s worth, I just typed “Edgewood” and sorted through to find the one in Ashtabula County.

The algorithm and string relationship seems personally illogical to me, because if you type in “Pickerington”... well, you get a lot of schools that aren’t named Pickerington. However, I really am not as familiar with computer language and scripting as much as I would like to be, so I know of no explanation as to why that happens.

You kinda didn't

While you can find type Edgewood and find "Edgewood High School" as well as "Edgewood Senior High School" (both in Ashtabula ) you'll find neither have any teams attached. That is because you have to search for "Braden" to get to Edgewood's schedules...

Another flaw of Arbiter, no one appears to be cleaning up the duplicate school names

When I'm trying to find a team I know little about in some other part of the state, clicking from team to team often is a wild goose chase.

I don't know how to access the text format, but the other suggestion is more hunt and peck. I usually have better luck with the google search I mentioned.

I was thinking more locally. But, yes, in that case it probably is fastest.

As for his text schedule. At the top of the page where it shows the links to all the regions, is a listing of games by week. Just click the week and it shows every game by date and time for that week. His database uses those files to generate the team pages. And it avoids the mistake of 'both team winning' or 'both team losing' if he were to just enter it for each team (he also said before he has a automatic tool used to find duplicate games to make sure a game is only listed once).

Plus, eagle eye fans are quick to get on him for mistakes found with their own teams.
