That should just about do it for the ECOL. It should spark New Philly and Dover to push harder for a new league in the Canton area and Marietta and Warren Local to push harder for a WV/SE Ohio league. Cambridge again looks like the odd man out.

It was just a matter of time. Unfortunate for Cambridge.

So much for the idea that they wanted to eliminate long travel distances.

Please add Logan to the LCL so they will stop making topics about Athens

When Zanesville entered all we heard was how they would dominate the league, instead won 1 league title and is currently 2-6 against Dover.

Hearing the LCL is also reaching out to:
Newark
Mt. Vernon
New Albany
Lancaster
Would then have two 8 team divisions.

I can't see New Albany leaving. They may be upset with the OCC over the re-shuffling, but they fit in nicely with Olentangy, Westerville, Worthington, Dublin, Hilliard.

Cambridge will be just fine. We have a long history in OVAC and would like to play more OVAC games anyway. That being said, we would obviously like to keep the ECOL the way it was but can't change it now. Zanesville has been trying to move West since they got in the ECOL and realized they weren't going to dominate or have any control of the league. They like to feel important and push their weight around. Didn't work in the last 4 leagues they were in the last 20 years..let's see how long they last in LCL. If they can't make it work there, pretty much out of options.

LCL better be careful of too much expansion, same thing that hurt ECOL. Spreading your wings adds too much travel and schools will not appreciate long drives for middle school games during the week.

I can’t help but think the bottom of the league, enrollment wise, will fall out if the LCL expands to 16 with the speculated additions above. What’s to be had for Northridge and Utica if they get stuck with Granville and Valley? How about Newark Catholic football?

I’m waiting for CoreyHunter to chime in on this. Eager to hear what he thinks.

Lancaster just spent a whole year pusi-footing about leaving the OCC, only to say that they wanted to stay. When any of their sports do well, they’ll claim they never wanted to leave the OCC to begin with — when the athletics aren’t doing too hot, they’ll have their newspaper write a story on how they’re having lunch with the Logan, Zanesville, Teays Valley, Groveport-Madison and Hamilton Twp athletic directors for the sake of having lunch and Definitely Not Thinking Of Creating A New League.

Lancaster is only going to be in it for themselves; that’s understandable, but simultaneously it makes them an unreliable and questionable candidate for league expansion.

Can't help but chuckle at the decades of arrogance from Dover and the spot they are in now. Thankful to the IV decision makers getting us out over a decade ago.

IV was smart to leave, theyíre more in line with newcomerstown and buckeye trail than they were ever gonna be with Dover and Phila.

The big difference between IV and Zanesville is that IV had no junk, while Zanesville AD is content to tuck their junk between their legs and pretend theyíre a girl.

I kinda prefer the idea of a 6 team league on each side. The question is do you look for a DIV or DV school to add with the small or do you look for a DIV or larger to add to the large school division and move valley down. I like the idea of having 5 games OOC to pick up and league the 2nd half of the year. Johnstown will continue to play many of the schools on the other side, I heard they were even considering playing Zanesville next year week 2.

Ironically winning 1 of those playoff games against the juggernaut Meadowbrook... One of the teams they were retreating from when they tucked tail and ran from the ECOL to the PAC.

How many had IV won before 2013?

And, must I point out last year's strength of schedules (according to Pasteur)?

Dover - #55 out of 107 in D2
IV - #91 out of 107 in D4

Did IV ever win a game in the ECOL except for Claymont and those terrible byesville teams?

I do know 2001 was as good as it got for IV- ended up 7-3, only losing to Coshocton and Dover in the ECOL.

Honestly the move from the ECOL was great for IV, gave them room to grow with not having unwinnable games on their schedule. And I'm happy IV fan thinks they are in a position to take shots at Dover, they've come a long way, and they left for all the right reasons.

Zanesville on the other hand... pretenders.

Agreed that leaving ECOL was definitely the right decision for IV when ECOL was a league without divisions but if they would have hung on for a few years they would have fit in nicely in the Gray Division.

A few years of success will make them feel they can stick their chests out a bit.

Zanesville will start play 20/21 in the big school, Lakewood will be moved to the small school and then will see what pans out if/when any additional teams are added. IMO the need to be careful about adding too many teams as I can very well see Johnstown eventually outgrowing the small school division. There was a recent article in the paper regarding a new housing development getting ready to start construction that they estimate could add 300+ students to the district, with other housing developments in the in the works.
At some point, I could see Valley eventually moving down and Granville staying in the Big School division.

I worked in Gnaden when IV entered the league and all I heard for about 2 years was how IV would handle Dover maybe that is why you got the business from Dover fans.

Congratulations to ZHS. Now if Newark would come on board it would be a good setup. Teays Valley is a worthy candidate as well.

I canít speak for phila but the Dover AD has been saying they are all ears to any possibility for the last 3 years but no offers have come forth. The OCC was a rumor but some OCC schools said no before anything could even get any traction. If you have information otherwise contact the Dover AD.
