Hubbard 2019 and Beyond

With the season officially concluding, it's time to get this started with a long off season ahead. Hubbard got back on track in 2017 after a lackluster 2016. 11-2 was great but should make the Eagles hungry for more moving forward. There will be some huge shoes to fill next year with Daniels and Mosora graduating. With this said the Eagles return quite a bit next season. 3 returning on the Oline (4 if you count Goodrick). Donlow, Harris, and Thomas are burners on offense who are home run threats every time they touch the ball. #7 should fill in just fine under center as he did when called upon this season. Throws a nice ball and can run when needed. The defense should be a strong point for the 2019 eagles returning quite a bit. Goodrick was a terror at NG as a freshman and should only improve. Besides Mosora the linebacking core returns as well as two others who started/seen action at DE. The secondary returns Donlow, Resetar, and Thomas with room for a few underclassmen to step up. Overall it's a far way off and a lot of work will need done in the off season, but 2019 should be more of a reload year for the eagles. The season starts at Mount Union vs Alliance. Can't come soon enough!

Losing the best player on each side of the ball is always tough, I feel Hubbard will need to find a pounding back for later in the season, Mosora was playing great. Should be good and talented forsure, might take a little step back from this season, depending on how the QB settles in throwing the ball. What’s the schedule look like?

I can agree on all points. Having a strong offensive line will be huge. From what I've seen I think #7 should be a better thrower than Daniels which really could bring the offense to another level. Hubbard hasn't had a dangerous passing attack in quite some time. Of course he isnt near the runner Daniels was but who is. I know Alliance opens. I believe Girard and Range are now conference games. I'm hearing no East week 10 so probably 1 open as of now. If East is indeed off I hope it gets filled with someone formidable. The brass have actually done a pretty good job with scheduling the past few years with NDCL, Bay, and now Alliance.

I think east got replaced with a conference game, alliance will bring a lot of points they should be solid for their conference. I’m afraid Girard won’t bring many points next year, might be the biggest drop off a team has had in a long time in our area.

NE8 conference play is week 4-10.
First three weeks are open.
Struthers has week 2 open. Crestview dropped the game. I would love to see us add someone good. But not a lot of teams have openings per the OHSAA website. I did not see Hubbard on there for an opening.

How about Akron East, or St. Clairsville

Heard the Eagles added Shaw rounding out Alliance and Howland as the three ooc. Shaw had a couple tough teams around 2010 but seem to have fallen on rough times. Hopefully Howland is improved. Not crazy about Shaw but what can you do.

I believe the South Range game will be week 10. I know they're in there some where.

On the bright side glad to see Edgewood off the schedule.

That would be a nice replacement, basically adding Canfield caliber back on the schedule with east

Akron East would not be that far of a travel, if you had to go there too, but St. Clairsville would be a haul.I seen both are open Week 2 though

I seen that as well, ms Knight will
Probably try to find a game when there are none available knowing her, I could very easily see the cats playing something horrible tho which sucks

I see Hubbard plays at Lakeview again this year but Girard has to play at Beautiful Hubbard Memorial Stadium for 2 years in a row, it all evens out. The only thing I don't like is that East Cleveland Shaw game, I would have liked Canfield in that #3 slot instead. Maybe next year I hope.....

Akron Manchester was open for a week 3 game. I know they are D5, but a strong D5 team. Also Cincinnati Wyoming was open week 3. Lol at that though

Yea doubtful Hubbard would want to go to Cincinnati or that Cincinatti would want to come up here mid season. Manchester wouldn't have been bad.

Howland and Shaw makes for a pretty weak OOC. Alliance should be good which will help if Hubbard were to beat them. Luckily I believe the conference will be strong.

Here is Canfield's schedule for next year, week 3 will likely not be available though until 2 or 3 more seasons, week 5 and 10 are the current open dates:

Canfield's schedule

Week 1: 8/30 Louisville

Week 2: 9/6 Dover

Week 3: 9/13 Chardon

Week 4: 9/20 Alliance

Week 5: 9/27 Open

Week 6: 10/4 Boardman

Week 7: 10/11 Highland

Week 8: 10/18 East

Week 9: 10/25 Howland

Week 10 11/1 Open

Ya the ooc games leave a lot to be desired. To be fair the Howland game was scheduled a few years in advance when Howland was still a perennial playoff lock. What's really up in tiger town? The talent get up and leave like that ?

Hubbard got a 2 year deal with Alliance for week #1 I do believe. Maybe Hubbard and Canfield can hook up down the road, at least I hope so. It just seems to me that that game would be a perfect fit for both teams.

I counted 20 seniors on this year's Girard roster, plus next year they have to sit at the "big boys table" schedule wise.

This was the year for Girard. Best team in school history. Final appearance is something to be proud of. They should be rebuilding for a year or two. Despite that well worth it for that program.

Exactly. Look at the 4 emotional games they went through, just to get to that state championship game. Everyone one of those games were either close come back wins, or they were revenge type games. Wyoming only had one of those type games along the way.

Correct. I know their younger classes arenít that good either. Jvís got trashed several times. I watched Struthers jv beat them down. Someone said McDonald did too. Jvs arenít a huge indicator but when most of the starters are seniors... it kinda is.

They wonít finish last in the league though. Those spots are for Jefferson and Lakeview next season.

Canfield plays Poland week 1 starting 2 years from now. If Hubbard is willing to play any week after week 4 then Canfield would gladly put them on the schedule. But that seems unlikely at this point due to league play starting week 4 for Hubbard.
