I think real soon you'll see East, Chaney, Mooney and Ursuline all play each other every year. If you set it up right both Mooney and Ursuline would make a trip to rayen each year and a city team would visit stambaugh each year.

Mix in the existing games those 4 play against boardman, harding and fitch and something like a conference begins to emerge

I don't have any hard evidence that it's true/not true, and I don't care to look at District test scores. But do private schools hire better qualified teachers than a public school? Where does this come from?

Edit: Additional thought... There's a difference between "catholic education" and "better education".
There was actually a study that examined kids that went to Cleveland Magnet Schools and private catholic schools like Iggy, Eds, Benedictine, and other Cleveland area catholic schools, and the results showed that the kids in the magnet schools performed better than the kids in the catholic schools. There wasn't much significance in how well they did. They would have gotten a better education if they just went to the magnet schools.

Read it again. They are public magnet schools. Granted, they pick and choose who they allow it, but they are public schools.

If a school "picks and chooses" who they allow in then they are not a true public school who has to let everyone that lives in the district attend. The only distinction between these magnet schools and privates is tuition. Magnets are usually set up in inner cities for those brighest students that cant afford or choose not to go the private school route. Or they stand out in the arts or sciences or the like.

Yeah, I would agree Magnet schools are a bit different than the usual public schools. and trust me falguin, I was happy to read that response being that I am on that side of the argument.

Anyway, has anyone actually seen the posting of the job? Wonder how long they will have it open before they start interviews. Hard to say without knowing who applied, but let's start speculating! I'm going to go with........ a Frasco. Pretty sure there have been two of them on the Ursuline staff with both Reardon and Kempe.

Campbell is NOT open enrollment

Probably makes most of their coaching jobs less desirable

Yep. The lack of community support for the athletic programs and a declining community in general puts Campbell in an unattractive position. Open enrollment has been discussed. But I have heard nothing concrete.

Blows my mind, Campbell has really nice facilities, their gym is nice, Roosevelt even has a nice feel
For a baseball game. If their football field had turf it might be the best in the area for a smaller school

You are right but I don't see any reason he wouldn't create the same thing at Ursuline. He was a really good coach at a Catholic school in Florida, he has been great at Hoban, and I see no reason why he wouldn't be great at Ursuline. My guess is the local public schools would lose a ton of guys to Ursuline if he became the coach. I know he went to Ursuline and played for YSU...maybe he wants to live in Youngstown again? I probably think there is a 0% chance...but he is certainly my first call if I am Ursuline.

I don’t think they would lose as many as you think in this day and age. Open enrollment is key

I have heard some schools near by have some kids play for Campbellís middle school team that donít have their own teams. Like some behavioral schools or something. Donít quote me though; thatís just what I heard. Campbell always has a solid middle school program and a couple years later the kids at Campbell look like they havenít played football ever in their lives. So one can only assume those kids arenít attending Campbell in high school and certainly somewhere else.

If they actually are going to Campbell, then Campbell has the most putrid way of developing football players Iíve ever seen.

It makes sense to me, I watch the middle school from time to time and usually Campbell has a very good team. Have to wonder what happens from 7-9th grade nowadays.

Not even a possibility under OHSAA, if you go to a behavioral school you're still attached to your district of residence to participate in athletics.

So what happens then?
Do the kids leave Campbell?
Or is Campbell the most inept football program in the entire state of Ohio when it comes to developing talent? Been like that since The guy before Bayuk with the middle school kids.
