RANKED: Every NBA Franchiseís All-Time Starting 5

In NBA by Harris Ahmadzai / March 5, 2017 / Leave a Comment

13. Cleveland Cavaliers: Mark Price-Kyrie Irving-LeBron James-Larry Nance-Brad Daughtery

6th Man: Zydrunas Ilgauskas

A well-balanced team from top to bottom, a franchise that only has one championship in 45 years has one of the best lineups in the league. Price and Irving are both elite shooters, ball handlers and have the ability to play the point or as the off guard. LeBronís contributions are well-known, and his versatility gives a great amount of flexibility on both sides of the floor. The three-man big rotation has a nice blend of shooting, defense and finishing ability to give enough room for LeBron and the guards to operate. Their lack of size could create issues on defense, but with LeBron finding Price and Kyrie open for jumpers and Nance at the rim, this offense would be nearly impossible to contain.

I honestly didn't remember Larry Nance having that great of a career with the Cavs. Very underrated. That's a pretty darn good starting 5! As with most teams, this team would probably have the same problem. 3 of the players are best suited with the ball in their hands.
Biggest question, who's better on point, LeBron or Mark Price? I think it's a much closer debate than many would think. Price was a great point guard.

If I was looking for a true sixth man, a guy who could come in with instant offense and get buckets, I'd swap out Z for World B. Free.

Z was awfully good, I think closer to Daugherty than many would think. Would have been great to see how good Daughterty could had been without the injuries. Really a Tim Duncan type talent/ mentality.

We never got to see how good Z could really be. The foot injuries changed him. We had a brief glimpse of how quick his feet were in the post, how well he could run the floor, and how good of a ball-handler he was during his rookie season.

Brad Daugherty was an all-star center during an era of truly great centers. Even at his best, Z would be hard-pressed to ever be that good. Brad was also denied a truly awesome career due to the back injuries.

Jim Chones was another who could have been great, but was never able to reach that level due to injuries.

The Cavs have had some bad luck with some high-quality centers.

So could Ricky Davis. After all, it was his nickname.

I know Terrell Brandon's not going to beat out Price or Kyrie at the guards, but he'd be a nice guy to have coming off the bench.

When I think Cavs and 6th man, I automatically think of "Hot Rod" Williams.

I would pick Austin Carr as the 6th man. Before his knees went south, he was one of the best shooters in the NBA.
