This may be the single most important thread in the history of Yappi!!! Seriously, it's a great idea and I would think an easy marketing tool for local restaurants. For locations near these neutral sites, you are going to be seeing a small band of roving (and hungry!) football fans who are likely far more unfamiliar with your area than during the weeks of the regular season. It may not be a large crowd, but if "I heard about you on Yappi!" could get you, say, half off an appetizer, it would certainly be worth a few keystrokes!

Just north is Dragon Garden with the best Chinese around, with some nice Thai and Vietnamese selections as well as a hibachi. The Basement in Sagamore on 82 is a better sports bar, and Dos Coronas across the street has a good Mexican menu.

Northfield Village of course has the Hard Rock casino and Kosar's Grill, but also a really nice yet affordable Italian place called Spennato's. The Northfield Inn has great bar food and pizza, as does Romito's. Scoreboards and Wing Warehouse are typical sports bars and both pretty good. All of these are on 8 north of Macedonia, where Nordonia HS is. Now that the casino money is around, it isn't the speed trap it used to be.

Around the convergence of 271, 82 and 8 at the Macedonia and Northfield Twp border and closest to the field, one can find just about any chain restaurant from Outback and Fuji steak houses through Applebee's and Chilis, Chipotle and Chik-fila, Panera or it's polar opposite Golden Corral, and most fast food joints. At the south route out of the high school, Highland Rd and 8, there is a Bob Evans, for those completely devoid of an appreciation for the unique. If you go a few hundred feet west, though, there is a great little Mexican place called Tacos Mexicanos.
There's Giuseppe's as well in Northfield Center... though better get there early or you'll miss the game. Small joint, great food, and Giuseppe cooks everything from scratch so you could be there for a while.

If your coming to Mason and want an awesome Burger and good Beer.... Visit Quatman's Cafe in Downtown Mason.

Hot Ham and Cheese is pretty good as well.

For anybody going to the Cuyahoga Heights-East Canton game in Medina, I'll put in a plug for Courthouse Pizzeria (since my niece works there). It's good, New York style right on the square downtown.

Terrific place, indeed, but it didn't seem to me to be a football game stop. Just the same, I should not have left it off a list of local restaurants. Real deal Italian, for sure. Good catch !

Spenattos pizza is UNREAL!!! Easily the best I have ever had. Dine in only too, no delivery. I've driven 40 minutes to get it.

Great Choice! (Mike's Penn Grill) - 599 E State St
A couple blocks West:
Ezio's Italian Restaurant is Excellent and my recommendation - 182 S Broadway Ave
BB Rooners is a sports bar / restaurant - 256 E State St
Ricky's English Pub is a bit small but Good food - 151 E State St

WE use to go there all the time on the way to Akron scouting, was the best back in late 60-70's. Spennato's has that unique spicy sauce so love and some don't!
Nobody has pizza anymore like old MamaRays near old Holyname and South high.

I'd also consider Beer Barrel....especially for the Archbold peeps coming in on 75 from the North....good food, plenty of parking (unlike the stadium) and easy access off the Interstate

I would have included Beer Barrel, however, the US224 ramps off and on from I75 southbound are closed for construction. That makes this a tough option for Archbold peeps. The next best option for them would be Frickers just off of the SR12 ramp.

I'm sure no one is heading to Zanesville for the Licking Valley v. John Glen game. If you are stop at Russo's wood fire pizza. Get the Sante Fe it rocks. Also have an old family restaurant called Adornettos. Good Italian food. They have a basic salad that is covered in cheese. There are a bunch of pubs that serve food. Plus a couple of micro breweries.

I will be there... I have Friday off work and will be hunting down in Guernsey until dark then headed to the game. Thanks for the options.

Went to Zanesville with my Dad a couple years back for a game... nice stadium.

Zanesville has a really nice facility. Been awhile since NC has played there. Lately we've had to go west or south.

It is good pizza, but if you would like to have an adult beverage, I don't think they serve.

A really good place to eat is Lagerheads Smokehouse on Abbeyville Rd. Fantastic food and good brew. (About 10 min from Medina HS)

Were you inspired by the fact that you can't get a good authentic burger in your trailer park back home?

Nope, Courthouse doesn't serve alcohol, but there's Sully's and P.J. Marley's across the street (both those places also serve pub food).

Lagerheads is good, but an FYI for any East Canton folks reading, it is pretty far north and west of Medina (almost in Brunswick or Valley City) so it's the exact opposite direction you would be coming in from.

I'm guessing the people coming from East Canton will be going I-77 to 18, so no shortage of chain restaurants in Montrose and then once you get by I-71 and 18 in Medina. But there are couple places on 18 as you get closer to Medina ... Tres Portillos (never been ... well been to the former restaurant that was in the building when it was a upscale Italian/wine bar place), Yours Truly (which is a local Cleveland chain that has solid American food) and Santosoussos (which is an Italina/pizza place ... been there once and it was solid).

Still, if you have the time, I'd recommend checking out the square (it's only a couple miles from Medina HS and, IMO, one of the best small town downtowns in Ohio). You could stop in Courthouse and get a slice (a slice is 1/4 of an 18-inch pie that's cut in two) and then head over to Sully's or P.J. Marley's if you want to kick back a couple before heading to the stadium.

Lagerheads is wonderful. Split some smoked whole wings and had that brisket sandwich last time we went.

Medina has such a great small town atmosphere.....as you sit in your car all jacked up in gridlock.... The only drawback

They have a nice little outdoor patio, too ... which will come in handy tonight!

Interesting, though ... I map-quested East Canton to Medina H.S. and it has people going I-77 to I-76 into Wadsworth, then taking 57 into Medina. Going that way (which when looking at the map would be quicker), you're not going to pass much until you get into the square in Medina. Literally, once you get off on 57 in Wadsworth, the only thing you'll pass is an old Marathon station (that only sells cigs and chew) right off the exit, then a little country store in a po-dunk place called River Stix about halfway between Wadsworth and Medina. So keep that in mind.

Same for the Cuyahoga Heights people who are planning on coming in from Route 3 from I-71. There is absolutely nothing between the highway and the high school on Route 3.

Your sister never charges me

I can't believe that YOU referred to ME as a smart azz in that other thread......

There is actually a trailer park in Stow, grandfathered right in to the old part of town, that actually seems as if the old guy in charge fights to successfully maintain a wholesome atmosphere.

One friend of my wife that suffered a bad divorce landed there with her kid, and I've been somewhat impressed - in relative sense.

The fact that she gives freebies is why she is STILL IN the trailer park......

My experience...both personally and professionally...tells me the place you speak of is an enigma.....three cheers for the proprietor......

You ARE a smart azz.......

This is a food-on-the-road thread, after all, EP......I feel so at home at your sister's that it seems off-topic...

Was pboy able to keep the hostile takeover attempt of Price Hill Chili by the "Men with Sticks" at bay ?

Montgomery Inn or Pit to Plate ?
