GCL Coed

Starting a separate co-ed thread

League goes 6-2 over opening weekend with Roger Bacon and Badin both winning twice. Purcell and Fenwick each with one win and Carroll and CJ both take a loss. McNick and Alter did not play this weekend.

This weeks schedule:

Tuesday December 5
Madeira at Purcell Marian
McNicholas at Turpin
Miamisburg at Carroll
Edgewood at Fenwick
CJ at Shawnee

Friday, December 08, 2017
Alter at Badin
Carroll at McNicholas
Fenwick at Roger Bacon
CJ at Purcell Marian

Saturday, December 09, 2017
Marshall at Alter
Moeller at Purcell Marian

League games start on Friday and hopefully Purcell has a strong showing against Moeller on Saturday.

Gcl

Good showing by GCL co this weekend. I was for sure surprised with the Madiera v Bacon game. Thought Madiera would take that one with them being "up" and Bacon being "down". I was at the Purcell, CHCA game. Great game. CHCA is underrated. Aj Garrett from PM had a huge dunk in the game. Watch it here

McNick 68 Turpin 39

Turpin handled Lakota West rather easily in their first game so may be a nice win for the Rockets.

Lakota West is not very good
Pretty Sure all GCL teams in action won last night except Carroll losing to Miamisburg.
Purcell over Madeira
Mcnick over Turpin
Fenwick over Edgewood
CJ over Shawnee

Ok. don't really keep up with HS Basketball. Assumed LW being a big school (@ 5x males as McNick) they would be decent.

Had the chance to catch Purcell in Madeira. Back and forth contest with Purcell pulling away in the 2nd OT (after a scoreless first).

Purcell struggled a bit in the half court and didn't seem to easily figure out the zone. Definitely at their best getting up and down the court in transition and have some good on the ball defenders.

Not familiar with names, but was impressed with the guard play. #11 (I think?) seemed to find his way into the lane often and created some problems for Madeira with the penetration.

Will be interested to see how they trend throughout the year. I can imagine given the nature of the league they'll struggle some with teams that match up more favorably.

At the game as well. They did struggle some with the zone. 3 of Purcells top 5 guys did not play very well at all. Still pulled out a W on a pretty tough Madiera team. My question moving forward though is who in the GCL co ed matches up favorably with them?

Saw McNick in the summer and they have excellent guard-play to handle the pressure--question would be Rockets rebounding the ball vs. PM--if they can hold their own I think it's a toss-up game.

I completely agree. Mcnick is tough. Guy on another thread said Madeira handled them pretty good in a game condition scrimmage. Mcnick game will be great. Bacon game is always interesting.

I have seen McNick (scrimmage), Bacon and Purcell and right now I give the edge to Bacon although Purcell has some horses! Bacon just looks solid and composed...Was not impressed with McNick...kinda small with not much shooting..

Last night would disagree with you. Bacon might finish last in gcl this year. Mcnick and Purcell will battle it out for top
