It's almost directly between Canton and Columbus. The whole point is that 75% of people aren't getting screwed. It's more like 40% of the population benefits, 40% are worse off, and 10% (Toledo area and parts of eastern Ohio which is about same travel time to both) are in the same boat.

Doesn’t appear that there were more then 6750 there tonight, which was D2 last year. But we all know how the OHSAA counts tickets....

1. Triggered
2. Not an answer. Did you see broken seats as you predicted that the "unruly" Canton crowds would do?

Yes 75% of the state is getting screwed. There is no easy way to get there from most towns. Itís crazy that people even argue this. Keep it in Columbus. Who the hell wants to play at some mid major college type field when they can play at OSU

http://letstalkdata.com/2014/01/popu...enter-of-ohio/

I was using this and eyeballing it

However, the official map from Ohio it's definitely not in Centerburg, dropping a pin in google maps puts it around harmony township. 40 odd miles to Columbus, 85 or so to Canton.

https://development.ohio.gov/files/research/P1100.pdf

But again, the point wasn't to be 100% as I was just eyeballing. It was that not 75% of the population was getting screwed.

Mind you, I'm of the opinion the games should get rotated through the state. Canton, Columbus, Dayton/cincy

Looks like 4,000. Ohsaa needs to hope Mentor and Tri Valley bring over 5,000 themselves

There's no way to get to the HOF and the stadium from most towns? Um Interstate 77? State Rt 30 and 62?

The number of people coming to the HOF would seem to run contrary to your statement.

I've been to both Tom Benson and other mid major college stadiums, Benson blows them all out of the water. It's literally a nfl stadium just sized down. And again, 75% is not getting screwed, about the same amount of people getting screwed is the same amount of people benefiting. But as I said, I'm a proponent of the games being rotated throughout the state.

You are correct...Benson is no mid major stadium. This stadium is major league.

I agree too, but sites won't host generally unless it's a multi year deal with long term possibilities. Only Illinois, Mississippi, and Alabama alternate and that's only between two sites who both wanted itand fan bases for AL and MS would be angry if their college didn't host while their rival did. Ohio isn't the same.

Yeah but they could do it on 2 year rotations and I think keep everyone happy about the set up, as long as you got the long term assurances it'll be back in 4 years. My hunch is it'll be a rotation anyway between Canton and Columbus for the foreseeable future anyway.

The D5 game tomorrow will be interesting attendance wise. Both new blood publics that usually is a recipe for big crowds, but both got decent hauls. D7 I suspect CH will bring a large crowd, Marion will bring the solid crowd they usually do. D1 should have high attendance with great weather and 2 publics with not bad drives.

Sorry it been 25 years I have been going. After going to Columbus the last few years just seen that's where they should be! Give us all a chance to drive about the same to see the games!

Will the OHSAA keep the attendance from the public, for all of the games?

Maybe in their minds, it will make the small crowds bigger.

There is no attendance conspiracy at the OHSAA.

LOL. Maybe Journey went to the game last night and saw for the first time ever a private school with a larger crowd than a public school. He could cross that off his bucket list.

The OHSAA reported attendance numbers at Ohio Stadium the last two years for the state championship games (if reported at all) were dubious at best and inflated at worst. Even with that they were still low. It looks like the OHSAA will continue that for this year's games in Canton. Why certain games have no reported attendance is beyond me.

Trying to hide the fact that many things have gone poorly and the attendance shows this.

Probably, but most of this is beyond the control of the OHSAA. The general public's interest in high school sports has and continues to decline significantly. It won't matter where a state championship game is played the numbers are going to continue to decline.

I disagree to a degree.
Lower the prices
Play the games at a Central Location high school field
Stop acting like this is big time college or pro football and treat it what it is a very big day of high school football.

I do not see the crowds ever being Texas like but they can go back to what they were in the day of the 7 dollar state final ticket(Or that range)
