No team has been able to stop their ground game thus far; so it's only reasonable to assume that they will do so Thursday night. WW is a complete unknown to most Hoban fans.

Ww

STVM beat Winton Woods in 2016. They are very athletic on Defense and can be explosive on Offense. This should be a very entertaining game. Can WW beat the only remaining Private?

From Drew Pasteur...Nov 30 (W15) N #3Akron Archbishop Hoban (13-1 D2 R5), pick: L by 2 (55%). Meaning it's a toss up. I'm assuming advantage is Hoban due to it being almost a home game for them and their previous consecutive titles. It's going to be a good one.

Taken from the WW link. Hoban has the advantage. Win by 2.

On the flip side, no team has been able to sustain a running game against the Winton Woods defense. I think one MAJOR difference in the Hoban team that put it on Trotwood last season is at QB. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Hoban have a senior stud named Danny Clark at QB? Not they have a Freshmen, and despite all the foolish venom spit about his age, last season he was playing middle school. I believe he has to be special to start anywhere as a freshman especially Hoban.

Just checking the Hoban schedule the last 2 years. They have had only 2 close games, Iggy, and Eds, and lost them both. Other than that, it does not even looked like they have been really challenged by anyone. Maybe St. V..that is it?

So the plot thickens. A team that has seldom been tested in the regular season over 2 years versus a team that continually challenges themselves in the regular season. And don't give me the because WW is independent either. Independents can choose soft schedules too.

Wouldn't really consider Hoban as choosing a soft schedule. They're on a league which in recent years has been down more than usual but they do schedule other area strong teams as in Mooney and Ursuline. But the difference is that to be independent in Cinci you have a lot more power D1 programs than in NEO. Also Hoban was very much tested last year against Desales, down by I believe 14 in the first half and making adjustments and coming back to win the game.

Also I think you WW posters are underestimating Hoban's run game. Yes they may very well get shut down as I know nothing about WW, but Hoban's line may be the best in the state. They are big boys but not just big they are quick and athletic. As well is their defensive front 7.

I'm hoping to see a good old fashioned smash mouth between the tackles football game.

No. I am actually pulling for Winton Woods to win. Hoban actually have played, and beat very good teams along the way. This could work against them though. If game is close in the 3rd, and 4th quarters, Winton Woods will be more battle tested for that situation. I know they have been in tough games late in the game this year against good teams... Hoban had not been in a pressure situation for 2 years it looks like

I would say there's some pressure going into state championship games and that having been there is certainly an advantage for a team. I think the real pressure comes to Hoban if WW can shut down the Hoban run game and put the game in the hands of the freshman QB.

Hoban was down 14-3 at half in the semis last year to a Desales team that had buried everyone in their path, then beat them down in the 2nd half 21-0. A close game isn't going to bother them, that's completely overblown. They've challenged themselves plenty the past few years, playing tight games with Ed's, Iggy, and drilling Canton McKinley twice. They have a 5 game league schedule they have to play, plus St V every year.

Yes, no doubt If WW shuts the run game down, that will put Hoban in a very awkward situation.

Hoban freshman QB set passing record as did WR. Hoban can pass as needed. QB completed 70% of his passes and WR with over 1000 yards and 12 TD’s. I wouldn’t call that awkward.

Well, everyone kept commenting on them being a run heavy team, so I would have thought passing the ball would be out of their comfort zone.

Comparisons to the TM game aren't really fair though. TM came out of the locker room with their heads up their hind ends. I'm assuming WW won't make the same mistake.

Looks like the Warriors are facing a balanced squad that nobody can handle, this is going to be fun.

Winton Woods could easily come out the locker room the same way.

I don't think this would be the game, to come out and do that. I am sure their staff really is on this. I know they got away with it against Chilly, and Massillon, but that crap will catch up to you sooner, or later.

I like Winton Woods to win this one, say 30-20. I think they have too much team speed across the board.

Very possible. I would even suggest probable. I put it on the coaches. It's like we don't know what to run offensivel until we see what the opponent is doing. I like when we are defense first.

Trying to believe Winton Woods will not pose a threat. Hoban better hope They don't play 4 quarters; If they can stop shooting themselves, Hoban will see why Winton Woods play LaSalle, Elder, Moeller, Anderson( to prepare them for teams like Hoban).

I'm sorry.. looked back, the Chillicothe game you were not down early, game did go back, forth during first half though before steam rolling them in the 2nd half. Referring more to the Massillon game, down early

WW had better hope the same. Hoban does not make many mistakes, and they tend to capitalize on other team's mistakes
