Ok so does anyone know if any of the kids that play on the Winton Woods high school football team has any real offers from college football programs?

TCC was supposed to thrash Hoban in 2015, and Trotwood was definitely supposed to last year. Even though Hoban "is just not outstanding," my guess is they'll show up and give themselves a chance.

Whatís different about Winton Woods? Serious question as I know little about them beyond that they beat Lasalle twice and Massillon last night.

It's a fair question and I remember being surprised by how easily Hoban beat TM dominating them in every phase of the game. And before I make my comments I'll also admit that I'm completely ignorant about Hoban this year other than they must be good to be a D3 team playing in the D2 state championship game. So with that here's my thoughts on the game:

* WW just seems to be playing football on another level in the playoffs. They have the optimum combination of size, speed, athleticism and football smarts to be able to beat you in every phase of the game. They would be a stern test for the four teams that just played in the D1 semifinal games.

* WW has all the makings of one of those one year "wonders" that spring up in Public Schools in D1 & D2 (remember Loveland in 2013) from time to time. Now DRM will dispute this but I'm guessing that optimism aside, next year the Warriors will be more down to earth. I could be wrong and this might be the start of a LaSalle like run by WW but I'll believe it when I see it. But for THIS YEAR they are a complete team - loaded from top to bottom.

* WW's coaching has really improved. From the games I've seen on TV the Warriors staff is making better adjustments then their opponents and are coming into games with excellent game plans on both defense & offense.

* WW's special teams have always been frightening returning the ball but their kicker looks to be very good and most importantly CLUTCH.

It's games like this why I love Championship weekend on TV.

Chris Oats has around 15 or more offers from every major program except Alabama. (Heís got Ohio State, Ole Miss, UK, Miami Fl, etc..) sophomore RB Miyan Williams has UK, Toledo right now. Tank Booker has UK, Toledo. Quinn DB has Tennessee State. Thereís more but I really donít feel like looking it up.

LOTR, I thought you were more verse on SW OHIO football. Winton Woods is a not a one hit wonder. We have always felt they we were always a top 2 or 3 team in Region 8 (And region 6). There have been a number of teams that we have battled with to be top dog in the region and we didn't wrestle it away from them Anderson, Trotwood, Loveland, LaSalle. Classic battles with these teams and the only consistent has been Winton Woods, those teams have come and gone. I remember losing to Loveland 6-0 The year they won it all. Alot of people at Winton Woods always thought we could possibly beat LaSalle if we had gotten a 2nd chance last season because they only beat us by 7. Actually we might have been better last season. Our issue was being more professional, disciplined and consistent in how we went about things. Being independent has forced us to schedule up. It's always about if Winton Woods can survive our gauntlet of a schedule we are going to be a problem in Region 8. We KNOW we are and have been better than almost every team in this region the past 10 years. But know one outside of Winton Woods is going to agree with me because I said it. That's why we are not carrying a flag for anybody but us.

"One year wonder" isn't a put down DMR, some of the best D1 state champs were exactly that. And I get that WW has been a tough game over the last few years but you missed the playoffs those years and as an outsider this years team looks to me to be heads & tails above the teams you guys have fielded since your 2009 state championship. And yes, playing disciplined, consistent football is just as important as having a roster full of D1 recruits.

And why are you so sensitive about other folks rooting your team on? Whether you like it or not you are carrying a flag for the greater Cincinnati area. It's a great complement that other people are rallying to your teams cause. I'm not sure why you have a chip on your shoulder about this.

Uh just a reminder Lasalle won 3 D2 state titles in a row and Woods did not.Uh good luck next year after Woods loses 9 starters from the defense and 4 starters from the offense including the all-district QB and your best o-lineman. Uh, Moeller, Elder, and Lasalle are all waiting, plus the other schools you guys rolled the score up on this season.

All you guys stop comparing WW to Trotwood. WW is much better coached and they work tremendously harder especially during the off season. WW also plays a tougher schedule. Looking foward to a good game! I will have a prediction later this week. Don't like the fact that WW has to play on a Thursday night. That is a quick turn around and will definetly cause WW to change there regular schedule.

That's next year. Let's stick with the present WW team and their goal of being state champions on Thursday. Anyone can talk anything about next year with no certainity whatsoever.

Don't see it happening, PM me if you wanna put some $ on this. I'll take WW and some points just let me know how many a Thrashing is, but to me your post sounds more based on emotion that any sense or logic.
Nope, not a hurt fan by any stretch. As I said earlier, I don't have a dog in the fight. The only team that was able to somewhat handle Hoban's O and D line was Iggy, and I think Hoban is a much better team than they were back in week 1. No team has been able to handle their d-line and linebacking core. Their o-line is big, strong and athletic and they have athletes all over the field who can make plays. I hope what you're saying is true. I just want to enjoy a good championship game. Don't want to see a butt-kicking on either side.

Uh I just did. Uh Woods is really good this season, can they compete with the D1 powers in SW Ohio year after year? Noway. Great senior class this season next year is a different story.

Believe me I am not a Hoban follower. But I do know where he came from. I will let someone from Hoban comment on that. I do think that Hoban is a run oriented team though

To beat Hoban, WW is gonna have to shut down Hoban's running game, and no team has been able to do so yet.

Are you speaking of running game running out of what offensive scheme? Spread? Two- Back? Option? And for the record, stopping the run has been WW specialty with their talented front 7.

From what I have heard he should be a sophomore or junior academically. Was held back at least 1 year. He is either 16 or 17 years old depending on who you talk to or believe.

Spread, sometimes pro set with a one back, mainly out of the pistol. I have heard that WW has a very special front 7; it should be a very interesting match-up.

Yes, I have heard the held back stuff too. Just did not want to go into detail too much about the kid. I figured I probably said enough there

Uh, Woods and Trotwood are very similar in the way they play. Uh stupid penalties, awful special teams, except for their return people, and in general no game plan other than get the ball to your speed people in the open field.Great athletes who win in spite of their undisciplined playing. Uh will work some of the time, willnot work year after year.

How do you figure?? I think we played this week every year since 2010, beat you guys a few times. Not sure how WW works harder, and is better coach since this is WW first playoff appearance since 2013. Get off our we lost to glorify AAU team. Anybody that beats us 30-0 is loaded, I believe they would have beat just about anybody that day, yes they were that good!

He's a really poised kid, and far exceeded my own expectations this year. They trusted him more and more as the season went on, and he threw 24 TD's to break the school record. He throws a very crisp, accurate intermediate ball, and can make a nice throw over the top if you press up too much. Tough runner, too. They've been very run heavy in the playoffs, throwing only a handful of passes in each game. Toughest D he faced was Iggy in week 1, but he was so green at that point, they really didn't ask him to do much at all.

Shut down the run? I will say one thing about WW they are okay in run defense, what happens if they stuff the run and constantly put heat on the QB?

well then it could get very interesting. Hoban does have a talented group of receivers, but they haven't relied on them too much in the playoffs; they haven't had to.

Yes, a 17 yr old frosh would be quite the story, if it were true. The kid is 15, he'll turn 16 during his freshman school year.
