Winton Woods should win this game if they don't make any mistakes. That they did that to Massillon says it all.

Massillon is not a great football team, they lost 3 games for a reason. They were in a soft region, and found their way through. WW/Hoban looks about as even as it gets.

Massillon may not be great but they are definitely better than a large majority of d2 teams. If W.W. comes out and runs that option offense I like their odds of winning this game. Their defense and special teams are very good and will keep them in the game against any team.

I think this game and the Marion Local/Kirtland games are the games of the week. No discredit to Massillon or any other team, but I was rooting for Winton Woods as I saw them as the only real D2 competition for Hoban.

The under/over has been set at 45. The line is Winton Woods plus 2.5 points.

Just curious after watching the last couple of Hoban games. Hoban totally dominated a smaller, very fast physical line at Barberton. The Hoban offensive line pushed the smaller Barberton line around and the running backs weren't touched until they were 2-3 yards down field on nearly every carry. Defensively, Hoban controlled the line of scrimmage and overwhelmed Barberton's line, getting to their backs and QB easily on almost every play.

Against a larger Avon offensive and defensive line, it was a stalemate most of the game. While Hoban won by a large margin against Avon (30-6), the game was much closer.

I suspect that Winton Woods is built more like Barberton; small, strong, and athletic. If they have more depth and don't need players to go both ways, that should help Winton Woods.

This should be a great game. Looking forward to it next Thursday night.
Wonton Woods looks like a decent college team- good size, incredible speed and skill and the kind of team chemistry most coaches only dream of. WW in a landslide

I think WW is one of only a handful of teams any division that can play with Hoban. I want them to win actually given the notoriety of the Hoban coach and this team's history.

Have to agree with both these comments. I'm really looking forward to this marchup. Gonna grab a thirst quencher, sit in my favorite chair and watch from the warmth & comfort of home.

Weren’t some folks from SW Ohio talking the same way about the Trotwood-Madison matchup last year ... and we saw how that one ended.

What’s different about Winton Woods? Serious question as I know little about them beyond that they beat Lasalle twice and Massillon last night.

This. Are they big and fast or just big? Trotwood last year was just big and tries to intimidate but had nothing else.

They did beat 2 D1 playoff teams[Northmont & West Clermont], LaSalle twice, Moeller, a team that beat St I and their only loss was to Elder in OT on a missed XP

Just so we’re clear, not a single WW poster has predicted a whooping, thrashing or anything of the like. From here till game time, when you read an outrageous post, please do your due diligence and see who their team allegiance is to. I’m really looking forward to this game. Should be a heavyweight fight!!!

While this will certainly be the better game, I was selfishly wishing for a Massillon victory simply to watch the posters in a Massillon-Hoban state final match up crash the internet!

Have to get them in the same region once the apprentice period is over for these Tiger cubs.

The school buildings are 22 miles apart down Arlington, for God's sake

On a side note, this is nearly a home game for the Knights. Let's hope that the hotel time doesn't take the starch out of the Warriors.

I was so hoping for that, too. If it could only have happened last year, the entire internet may have been shut down for a while .

Outsider opinion- have seen both teams play a couple of times and WW is imho better by quite a bit. They clearly have shown what they are capable of doing. Hoban is just not outstanding this year, WW is.

Senior Chris Oats is ranked 10th in Ohio and is a 4 star linebacker on 24/7 and rivals. They have a lot more but that is the biggest name.

Similar talk that we heard last year before Trotwood game. Trotwood had just pounded TCC by like 40-0. We had to come back in 2nd half to win against Desales. We heard all week how Trotwood was going to run Hoban out. Came out at pregame taunting Hoban, assistant coaches swearing at our players from the 50 yard line. 2-3 personal fouls to start game because of all the trash talking and extra curricular intimidation strategy. Then the game started and it got real pretty quick. Coaching and preparation will have the Knights ready to play and peaking at the right time. Avon was a much better team that Hoban faced last night than Massillon. This will be a very good game, defensive battle I would imagine.
