Child of Darkness, Child of Light (1991)

Horror: The Vatican sends a priest to investigate two reports of pregnant 15 year old girls who claim they are virgins. Not too bad for a 90's flick.... 5.0/8

Childs Play 7: Cult of Chucky (2017)

Horror: Chucky terrorizes a nut house where a surviving victim of his resides.... Andy also returns for this one. Really liked this one.... 5.5/8

The Alien Dead (1980)

Horror: I know what your thinking, when one thinks of Thanksgiving of course we all think of watching The Alien Dead. Thankfully I found this one on a Roku Channel called Asian Mayhem. Uh, it is not Asian.... A houseboat sinks in a lake in Florida and now all the gators have taken off. What is going on in the swamps? When mutilated bodies start appearing then the hicks send out a posse to see what is up. This is a bad low budget film, I am talking $12,000 budget so you get what you get but this one had tons of charm. I mean you know something is mutilating bodies yet hot young women go swimming exposing their breasts.... even some of the male town folk commented on it explaining off as "The women around here are crazy", "Yes, that is why there are so few of them".... Lots of editing errors to put a smile on your face.... one scene she is a zombie the next she is working at a grocery store.... paved road, dirt road, paved road, dirt..... lol.... this one goes down as bad = good..... 4.0/8

Finished the Punisher on Netflix: 6/8. A little slow early, but picked up speed the last 3 episodes. Also, extremely violent, which is funny bc they keep the language and sex at a PG-13 rating.

The Thinning - 2/8

YouTube has done nothing but pump out garbage. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but nowhere near good either.

The Ghost Writer - 6/8

Good tense movie, would've liked it to go on for another half hour instead of end when it did.

Office Christmas Party: 4.5/8

I laughed more that I thought I would. Definitely not the worst Christmas comedy.

The Night Before: 5.5/8

Similar to Office Christmas Party but funnier and with a better cast and better writing.

Murder on the Orient Express: 5.5/8

Enjoyable as an old fashioned murder mystery. Branagh is memorable as Hercule Peroit.

A Cure for Wellness: 4.5/8

It's enjoyable for the trippy psychological film it is. Could have been shorter. The plot meanders quite a bit to the point where you're not sure what the point is but it does eventually get around to it. I guess you could call it a Shutter Island wannabe.

Geostorm - .5/8

Honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. There is nothing redeemable here.

The Glenn Miller Story (1954) - Great bio-pic showing the life of famed big band leader Glenn Miller. Played convincingly by Jimmy Stewart it is a homage to one of the founders of swing music and the guy who made jazz a musical form suited for military bands. Two bands in existence today carry on his legacy: Airmen of Note in the USAF and the The Glenn Miller Band a ghost band both still perform.

Murder On The Orient Express: 7/8

Pretty certain I read the book as a kid, but don't have much memory of it. From what I've heard though, it's a faithful adaptation.

Very well casted and acted movie. Suspenseful and full of twists to the very end.

Thought the ending could have used another minute or two long to flesh out the reasoning of Periot, but other than that not much to gripe about.

The Glass Castle- 6/8

Really good movie. I read the book years ago too. Good actors in this including Woody Harrelson and Brie Larson. I would recommend it. Itís based on a true story.

Just now getting to this thread.

LOL - Great cheesy flick. I happened to see it on TCM last year. I wasn't sure what costume the guitar player was wearing, but it certainly gave him a creepy look, especially with those big ears.

Bonus points for Otis Campbell's wife starring as the slightly-hipper-than-she-looks schoolmarm.

It was so lame it almost wasn't, but I can't disagree with a 2.5.

The Circle: 5/8

Interesting movie about a topic that is coming down the pipeline, the removal of privacy because social media and public cameras run rampant.

The movie itself kind of just...ends, though. It's heading in a buildup to something that never really comes. I felt like I watched a movie that was missing 15 minutes.

I haven't read the book but hear it is much better.

FYI - Rotten Tomatoes has Get Out (2017) as the best horror film of all time, ahead of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) as number two, Psycho (1960) as number three and Nosferatu (1922) as number four. I don't agree with the number one rating, but it is certainly in the top ten. For my money Nosferatu is still number one.

Coco - 7.75/8

Another masterpiece from Pixar. Right there with Up, Ratatouille, Incredibles, and the other great ones

(the short before the movie kind of sucked though, and went on way too long)
