I have no issue with releasing Barnidge, and that's been proven correct by the fact that he's still sitting at home (but I do believe that somebody will sign him eventually for depth when more injuries hit). Personally, I would've liked to see Pryor come back. He knew the system, he was still learning and he was a large target. But Drew Rosenhaus LIED to Pryor and told him he was worth $13 million per year, and that led to him turning down the Browns offer. Would you really pay him similar to what Dez, Julio and AJ Green are making? If you say yes, then I'm glad you're not in charge of the Browns. And you NEVER pay a guy, just because you have extra money laying around. And as I've now said about 4 times, NOBODY else offered him a contract.

Young QBs with veteran receiving options at TE are always better off. It was stupid to strip Kizer of that.

Be honest: do you really believe the Browns are a better team without Barnidge?

You think Dez would have had 1000 yards on last year's Browns team?

Barnidge doesn't move the needle one way or the other. Dez would've had 2,000 on the Browns last year. Not really, but he's much better than Pryor and that's why he's worth more money. I think Pryor is going to struggle this year. He had 2 catches on Sunday vs the Rams, both of those in garbage time.

A TE with over 1600 receiving yards and 11 TDs the past two years on horrible Cleveland teams wouldn't add anything to the team?

Don't dodge the question: Do you think Dez would have had 1000 yards on last year's Browns team?

Britt had 1000 yards with a bad QB situation in LA so yeah Dez could've put up 1000 in Cleveland.

How did I dodge the question...I jokingly said he'd put up 2000 yds...YES, Dez would put up 1000 yds. And Carolina just worked out 2 TEs after the injury to Olsen, neither of them named Barnidge. And another thing about Pryor, he was a pain in the last season and didn't endear himself to his teammates or coaches at times. I still can't believe you wanted to pay him like the other top WRs.

Why do you think Dez would put up 1000 yards in the Browns offense when he hasn't put up 1000 yards in the Cowboys offense in 3 years?

Why wouldn't you pay him? He put up good numbers in a very bad offense and his contract wouldn't be a problem for the team.

He would put up 1000 because there is nothing else around him.

And I told you that I wish Pryor would've stayed, at a reasonable cost, and what the Browns offered was definitely reasonable. Just because the Browns have money doesn't mean they should spend it recklessly (as older regimes have). The market tells you that he was worth nowhere close to his asking price. The fact that only the Redskins made him an offer tells you what the rest of the league thought of him.

Usually when a team has two productive players in their offense they try to find pieces to add alongside them instead of dumping them.

The rest of the league doesn't matter; a player's worth a team by team thing. It was the Browns who had the cap space to pay him and they should have.

Where is Barnidge today?

The Browns TRIED to pay Pryor, he over-played his hand, and had to settle for the ONE other offer he received.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

You are a broken record. Where Barnidge is today means exactly nothing.

I understand. My point is the Browns should have paid him.

Same on you Crusader ... as a Steeler fan you of all people should know about paying market price ... the Steelers have consistently passed on over paying veterans for years ... the only difference is they are smart enough to already have a replacement when they do ... giving DeValve and Njoku reps will help the Browns more in the long run than playing Barnage would.

You can't really compare the Steelers to the Browns though can you? The Steelers are usually right against the cap, they have superstars that soak up a lot of cap space, and they have enough team ability to absorb the loss of a veteran contributor, like Lawrence Timmons. The Browns are in the opposite situation where they're still trying to build team ability, have mountains of cap room, and have just one star; a LT. In that situation, it is imperative to keep what little talent you have. DeValve and Njoku could learn a lot from Barnidge, and the Browns would be better off with him on the field.

I will agree to disagree ... giving over market value contract away to players will eventually cause salary cap problems ... smart teams give smart contract all the time ... dumb teams give dumb contract all the time ... and it cost them in the long run ... example is Washington for many years ... just because you have the money now does not mean you need to spend it ... being smart know will allow the Browns to resign their core players down the road.

The Barnage thing ... I see your point, but if you watched last year (not the year before) Barnage struggled to get open ... significant dropoff from the year before.

The Browns are a few years away from having the talent to justify being near the cap limit. Giving 1 guy a favorable contract is fine.

Devalve and Njoku are a good enough combo to justify not paying Barnidge. TE isn't exactly what this team needs. The WR position is still a disaster, predictably

Kessler got hammered last year for holding the ball too long. I will retire before Kiser throws that ball, yet he doesn't get hammered by the "fans."

The Browns have lost 28 out of their last 30 games. The Indians have won 28 out of their last 30 games.
