Ohio Heritage Conference 2017

Cville-OMW: I like your picks, and I will take a stab at it as well.

CATHOLIC CENTRAL over GCC
SCC has low numbers as well, but they do have some studs. As long as it is early in the season and they are still healthy, it is tough to pick against them.

MECH. over CEDARVILLE
The Burg will win this game handily on their running game alone. They may be down this year, but Cedarville is still highly overmatched.

GREENEVIEW over ARCANUM
I realize that Greeneview has lost some players and a head coach, but they are still a big and physical team that is going to continue to roll like they did last year.

SouthEASTERN over NWESTERN
I can see Southeastern continuing to improve from last year. I feel that it will be close, but wouldn't be surprised with a Western victory either.

MADISON PLAINS over Westfall
I am not too familiar with Westfall, so this pick is purely on the hopes that Plains will pull out a win for the OHC.

NORTHEASTERN over KR
This pick may be off for some people, but I am not a believer in KR until they prove me wrong.

BEN LOGAN over FAIRBANKS
Ben Logan is definitely down this season, but they will pull this game out, although it may not be pretty. However, they best not overlook this young Fairbanks team looking ahead to their game against WLS in week 2.

WEST LIBERTY over GRAHAM
But not by much. Graham is better than they have looked in quite a few years. WLS should pull it out, but with such a young and inexperienced QB, it's not going to be pretty.

WEST JEFF over CRUSADERS
I feel that West Jeff wants to make a statement to the OHC right off the bat. Their defense should allow them to do enough on offense to win this game.

INDIAN LAKE over TRIAD
I know that Triad should be improved this season, but IL has a very underrated senior running back that is going to run all over them in this game. In addition, they have a couple of very good receivers that will not allow them to focus solely on stopping the running game. I predict a blowout in this one.

Good luck to all of your teams this season!!

I had heard about the accident but not the cancellation. Thanks for the update.

Greenon is doing the right thing, it's a true reminder that there are things bigger than football. My condolences and thoughts are with the entire Enon community.

Well said. I was really at a loss for words when I read this. I don't pay attention to the news much anymore but I did see this on there. Very sad. And an astronomical difference between this and football.

21-0 Kenton Ridge over Northeastern 2nd quarter. KR soph QB is looking good. Northeastern DBs need a lot of work.

WLS 21-14 over Graham 3rd Q
KR 28-13 over NE 3rd Q
View rolling, Triad losing. Sure West Jeff is too. Looks like Fairbanks and Ben Logan are in a battle. Northwestern is pounding Southeastern 33-0 last I heard.

Burg wins 46-0 over Cedarville. Kind of surprised it was a shutout, although it was 0-0 at the end of the first. Not too sure if that shows anything about us or not..

Not sure these scores are 100% solid just what I picked up. Still haven't seen anything on Central.

Central beat Grove City Christian 41-7.

I can verify Plains beat Westfall 30-25. Plains was up 24-7 in the 3rd quarter and held on late.

Saw the highlights from the NW vs SE game. Northwestern looks like a completely different team from last season. Northeastern did not look so hot tonight outside of the 2nd quarter. Should be a good one next Friday.

Reading the write-up on the News-Sun it sounds to me like a couple kids they've gotten from Springfield may be game changers for them. Tonight they set up a few short fields off returns and caused a couple turnovers. They could prove to be a bit more interesting than I expected. It should be an interesting one next week.

To add a bit of detail, this ended up tight because Plains' pass defense looked like a hot mess. Their DBs appeared to be in cover zero quite a bit, and they gave up a ton of yardage through the air. They'll probably struggle against anyone that can somewhat pass vertically.

The Bevington kid for Plains probably had around 35 carries for 200 yards and a couple scores. Seemed to be worn out later in the game, but for what it's worth they have a key RB/LB that they held out tonight for a disciplinary issue.

Synopsis: From week one and the jamboree game, MP is probably going to rack up rushing yards and put up a good amount of points vs. most of the league teams on their schedule, but they'll give up a ton of yardage and points if you can air it out a bit. Anybody that spreads the field with 3-4 WRs and can air it out a bit is going to hit a few big plays and get yardage in chunks over the course of a game.

NE played a new QB and has the QB from the last 2 seasons still on the roster but he now plays WR....The younger QB has more throwing power but he was not anywhere close on at least 70% of his passes. I understood the QB from the last 2 seasons had a injury and I am hoping that is the reason he stayed at WR and didn't move back to QB. I might be armchair QBing here, but you gotta put yourself in the best position to win ball games. Northwestern will beat them if it's a replay of week 1s performances.

Interesting results this week. I'm standing by my West Jeff / Greeneviee champions pick for now. After that, there's no clear answers!

After week one, I feel very confident that those are likely going to be the division champions this year. After that, it seems like the next rung of teams all have a lot of major question marks to resolve.

So if my math is correct 5-5 is the tally for non-league games for week 1.
I did like WJ intensity but really ugly ugly game. Lots of turnovers and penalties from both, including pic 6 from WJ Lambert.
WJ will have to improve greatly if they have any real shot at league title let alone going undefeated, but will take the win.

They have a fairly easy schedule early on so they should have plenty of time to clean up week 1 miscues.

From a Harbins' perspective I'd say the OHC has big games against a couple of the CBC schools, London and Riverside this week. With the 8 game league slate there's a finite number of potential computer points beyond this point, so they need to make good on their opportunities against these D4s that seem likely to win 3-5 games this year, as well as Riverside who's usually good for at least 6 wins.

It is absolutely a big week for Harbin points. I think there are few games this week that could potentially be huge in the playoff race (WL-S vs Ben Logan, SCC vs Graham, Burg vs Riverside).

The Adena / West Jeff game should be interesting as well.

Looks like they are calling for rain on Friday night now from Harvey!

If Adena's field is still like it was in 2011, the field will be a mess and that might keep the game interesting.
The muddier the field and that will slow down the high powered offense of wj and might help keep the game close if wj has to run the ball all night.
I know that Adena was really young last year but with the way that wj is playing they are going to be tough to beat this year.
