Sebring's Brian Clark returns to the sideline with a 90-33 win over Heartland Christian. It was 81-16 after 3. Classy move by Coach Clark starting playing freshmen the fourth quarter and running time off the clock.

Next up, a Wednesday visit from a talented Valley Christian team.

I suspect it'll be much like football, in that it'll be a 3 horse race at the top between McDonald, Reserve, and Springfield (admittedly I know nothing about this years Tigers but they always put out good teams). Reserve returns the vast majority from their solid team last year and McDonald has the 2 best players in the league. What separates hoops from the gridiron is the middle pack of the league should be much better/competitive than football, with Ridge and Milton being in the cellar

Probably after Mcd and WR, it will be on any given night........with the possible exception of Jackson-Milton.

Ridge was worse than JM last year, I don't see them winning many games this year or being very competitive. Lowellville-Waterloo-Sebring will be nice mid pack games. I agree that from 3-6 could go any way

Sebring is VERY young. Three sophs start and two more come off the bench. They play hard, though.

Sebring was Jekyll and Hyde last year. Some games they played well and won games they shouldn't have, and others they lost games I thought they'd win.

It's tough to gauge just on 1 game, but McDonald looked sharp and not miss a beat from last year. Started the game on an 18-0 run and 31-12 1st Q. They are much faster, athletic and tenacious compared to last year, especially on D. They lost a ton of height and rebounding will be an issue. They won't rely on the 3 ball as much as last year either.

In a Wednesday non-conference game, Sebring will host Valley Christian. I hear that VC is very athletic and may be one of the top D4 teams in the area.

According to the Vindy, VC beat Cardinal Mooney in quadruple OT last night, so Sebring might catch them a bit tired.

Sebring over Valley Christian, 45-43 on a deep three by Joey Clark at the buzzer.

The Trojans head to Lordstown on Saturday.

Lots of growth from the young Trojans last night! This could be a fun group to watch.

That's a nice win for Sebring. Lowellville's off to a nice start too. Was surprised that Reserve only beat Columbiana by 9. Looks like 2-5 might be closer than thought pre-season

I know Western Reserve is at Springfield tonight. Should be a good gauge for those middle spots.

Springfield wins a close one against WR 64-61. Shaping up to be a competitive year all-around.

Nice win for the Tigers! Off to a great start, the game next Friday against McDonald should be a dandy!

Sebring smashed Lordstown at their place. Score was 73-19 when I left. Strong showing leading up to good team in WR.

Of the scores that we have so far, here is the standings a week into play (I'm sure we may have a missed game):

Conference record in parenthesis
Springfield 2-0 (1-0)
Sebring 3-0
Lowellville 3-0
McDonald 2-0
Western Reserve 1-1 (0-1)
Jackson-Milton 1-2
Mineral Ridge 0-2
Waterloo 0-3

The league is 11-7 in out of conference play. Coming up on Tuesday is a nice battle between Sebring and Reserve that'll give us a good gauge where both teams are. McDonald and Springfield have a clash on Friday for the early league lead.

Thanks for compiling that Kingpin. This should be a very interesting week. Looks like the top/top middle of the league could be really fun all year.
