What Year Did Your Basketball Program Start?

Delphos St. John's kicked off its 100th season of boys basketball last weekend. I'm just curious to know when other schools around Ohio started their basketball program. Whose is the oldest?
I think New Bremen celebrated their 100th last year. Who else?

Here is a website for DSJ boys basketball. It features scores of every game, coaches, players, tournament results, records, etc...
It was compiled by Paul Sadler, DSJ Class of 1992.

Canton Central Catholic

Canton St. John fielded a football team its very 1st year of operation which was the 1926-1927 school year, so I can only assume they fielded a basketball team as well. That said, I'm unable to locate any game results to confirm that thought. Earliest record of a game is a 53-6 loss to Canton Lehman Jr. High on Feb. 24, 1928. St. John achieved senior high school status in the fall of 1929 and OHSAA member status in the fall of 1930 and competed in Class B. The team played its home games at the Knight of Columbus Hall on Cleveland Ave. a block or 2 from the school. The gym measured 78' 5" long by 38'4" wide and could accommodate anywhere from 600-950 fans (an upper deck to accommodate overflow, I assume). The St. John years have produced a confirmed record of 205-103 and 1 district championship (1945) with many other deep tournament runs. Due to the large number of Class B schools, some had to place high enough in their county tournament just to make the OHSAA postseason, and it occasionally required 5 wins to win a Class B district title in the '30s and '40s. A small assortment of game results remain unaccounted for (assuming the games occurred as scheduled).

St. John merged with Mt. Marie Academy to form Central Catholic in the fall of 1945. The first game as Central Catholic was played on Dec. 14, 1945 against Cleveland Holy Name. It resulted in a 30-28 victory. In his 1st game back as head coach (after serving in the Army during WWII from 1943-1945), Del Halpin received a technical for failing to enter his roster into the scorebook before the game. Because the boys were initially housed in the St. John building, home games continued to be played at the K of C Hall until the additions to the current school building, which included the gym, were completed in 1950. The Central Catholic years have produced a 713-769 record and 2 district championships (2014 and 2015).

Portsmouth High School basketball had a basketball team as far back as 1902, but I don't have year by year records before 1913. Since 1913, the Trojans have an all time record of 1,435--760, with 79 winning seasons. From 1947--1991, Portsmouth had only 5 losing seasons. The worst season in Trojan history was 1962, when PHS went 1-17 after winning the 1961 big school state title. Only 1 player returned from that team.
