What is the latest with MVCD? Will all of their top players be in uniform and playing when season opens next weekend? Not trying to stir any drama, just wondering who will be suited up.

Stritch's looks complete. MVCD is incomplete.

Woodley didn't play in last scrimmage on the sideline. Maybe held out for precaution.

I heard Stritch got a junior transfer who just moved from the Dayton area and can play right away. Scored 10 PPG as a soph last year. Can anyone confirm? If so the rich get richer. The link to their roster above already looks like a college team.

If he is the little PG who makes the other team look like the Washington Generals, then I saw him on their JV in the Clay scrimmage.

This can be confirmed. He is a good sized kid and will add more depth to the Cardinals.

Wow. Interesting.

Good problem to have but it is going to be tough to get everyone minutes. Winning usually solves complaints. I love what Coach Kaczmerik (spl?) has built in such a short time. Who'd a thunk?

Kind of an odd start. Stritch handled a bad Fostoria team in which is seems like even the ball girl got in and scored.

One more cupcake before TC (Away?). Then OH on Saturday (Home)?

Not TAAC but relevant...

I was kind of baffled seeing Genoa, with a healthy Plantz and Bench, get drilled by Oak Harbor and then the Rockets turn around and get drilled by Woodmore the following night? Did Genoa just have a bad night vs. OH? Is Woodmore that good? Bench left the Wildcats for Genoa correct?

Cardinal Strtich 77 Fostoria 31 - Fostoria doesn't have much back from a team that struggled last year.
Danbury 48 Lakota 44
Danbury 45 Sandusky St Marys 60
Emmanual Christian 42 Hilltop 41 - Good to see EC start out with a win
Maumee Valley 53 The Wellington School 64 - Didn't see Woodley in the box score
Northwood 55 Lake 79
Ottawa Hills 63 Delta 38 - Delta "may" be down from last year when they won 1 game
Toledo Christian 56 Lake 51 - With the Rogers transfer I am not sure how good Lake is. This may be a solid win for TC

Not a bad showing for MVCDS. Wellington played in the D4 state championship last year.

Can anyone confirm if Woodley played or not. He wasn't in the box score and I can't see him getting held scoreless.

Woodley and Kynard did not play in the game, both sat out with injuries. Rumor has it should be back sometime this week.

Saw the MVCDS v. Wellington game not as close as the score would indicate, it was 55-33 with a little of 2 mins to go when Wellington gave up a bunch of garbage baskets to end the game.

Watched Stritch's 80-57 win on BCSN. Couple things I noticed.

Erie Mason is a very solid team with their transfers, but Stritch wore them down. Stritch has crazy depth for high school, especially a D3 high school.

Stritch can put up some points. - Scored 50 in the middle 2 quarters vs Fostoria and 51 in the last 2 quarters vs Erie Mason and that is without throwing up a bunch of crazy shots or ignoring the defensive end of the floor.

Their team defense is tough. Holifield may be the best on ball defender in the area.

You can tell everyone on the team has been in the weight room, vastly different bodies than last year.

They are loaded for the next few years.

It will be interesting to see how Toledo Christian handles Stritch's pressure. They are always a well coached and prepared team.

Big TAAC game tonight.

Defending Champs - Toledo Christian
vs
Coaches Pick - Cardinal Stritch

TC needs to control tempo and stay out of foul trouble. Stritch can't take shots from deep too early in the offense if they are not falling. If they are falling....let it fly.

irishbuffalo - If your definition of getting "drilled" by Oak Harbor is losing by one point on the road, then I don't understand "drilled."

A few things about that game.

1. Genoa is going through some rough mental times. If they can get their attitudes straight, they'll be just fine down the stretch.

2. It was their first game following a football season and playoff appearance.

3. Plantz and Bench were okay, but a technical earlier in the game came back to haunt them (the one point).

4. Oak Harbor played with all heart. On Saturday, they came out and played with no heart against a fairly decent team and hot shooting Woodmore.

I think he used "drilled", because the score was reported wrong in the Blade. Think they had Oak Harbor winning by 12-14.

My apologies. Hint...don't rely on the Blade for your scores.

www.ohsnonline.com - we usually have ALL of NW Ohio scores in a reasonable time (mainly by 11 pm unless we can't find one). - shameless plug.

Especially, the Ottawa/Sandusky area county teams we have articles and more.

TAAC review

Cardinal Stritch vs. Toledo Christian
Yowzaa! They must be legit, TC never, I mean never lose at home to TAAC opponents. Mc Whinnie always does an excellent job of controlling pace in his gym. CS was too much for them. Watch out everyone else.

MVCDS vs. Gibsonburg
Gibsonburg is down big in talent, however checked box score nothing from Kynard or Woodley and they won convincingly! When (if) they return the MVCDS CS game Jan 5 may be a battle.

Northwood vs. EC
Northwood scores first in over EC who beat Hilltop earlier on last second shot. Curious to see how many wins both team pick up over the season.

Ottawa Hills vs. Danbury
Another Cummings kid? He dropped 25 on Danbury, coupled with Coil OH may have more to say about outcome of TAAC if guard play can be consistent in the bigger games.

How Stritch handles the pressure of very high expectations will be key to their success. Even their coach seems to be a little more animated and intense than I remember. He seems to be looking to not just win, but bury teams.

They have a few games coming up that will tell us more about where they are at. Cornerstone Christian (2 D1 commits), Central Catholic, Southview (maybe if both win) and Maumee Valley x2.

With what they have coming back I would like to see them schedule TRAC teams next year with the loss of 4 league games.

I hope Stritch and MVCDS both bolster their schedules next year. They have certainly turned that corner.

On a side note, and I believe smalls brought this up last year, but it would be a great year to rekindle the River East Tournament (Stritch, Clay, Genoa, Waite).

They used to rotate. But yes, Rossford would be in the tourny. I replaced them with Genoa as the Comets are better this year.

Cardinal Stritch 68, Ottawa Hills 43 - Stritch in control from start to finish. They can really defend
Danbury 82, Northwood 50 - Margin surprises me
Maumee Valley Country Day 57, Emmanuel Christian 46 - Margin surprises me here too. Good to see Woodley back

CS is showing it's dominance early. Danbury vs Northwood definitely an eye opener the margin. MV vs EC rumor has it 1/2 was sick. Woodley, Kynard made difference down the stretch.

No real Interesting match-ups this week within TAAC play but next week.

CS vs Cornerstone Christian (this Saturday) will tell if CS is ready for state level comp
CS vs Danbury (next Thursday)

Danbury has CS and TC next up

EC had TC and CS as well

Gibsonburg vs OH will be interesting for 3-4 place in the TAAC

MVCDS vs Northwood this week then we will see if this team is on CS level

MVCDS vs Toledo Bowsher (next Tuesday)
MVCDS vs Ottawa Hills (next Thursday)
MVCDS vs Toledo Christian (next Saturday)

OH vs G'burg, Northwood and then MVCDS

TC has EC, Danbury, G'burg before MVCDS

by next weekend we should have clearer picture of who's no#2-4 in the league right now no doubt CS is no#1.
