I'll take Archbold.

They lost less from last year. Their offense can pull Rotroff out of the lane when playing man to man and they shoot well enough to make Wauseon pay if they go zone.

Plus, it is easier to slow a good big man than a guard, because teams can hang all over guys while playing post D.

I agree. I think we will win, but only if we shoot the 3 well. If we don't make 3's, we're toast. You're right about Rotroff. We can pull him out of the lane and make him go 1 on 1 with one of our guards which will make it harder for him to guard us. It also helps that Carter Bzovi is graduated because we haven't defended him very good in the past, and defensively, he was one of their best defenders last year.

This will be a great matchup. These two teams balance each other out. Archbold has a really good offense while Wauseon has a really good defense.

With that being said, I do not see this game being a high scoring game. I can see this game being in 30's.

Archbold will win if they make the perimeter shots. They are very good at shooting in the perimeter. If they do not, then they will lose. Wauseon's height advantage will make it difficult for Archbold to score in the paint.

Rotroff is still questionable on whether or not he will play due to his wrist. He hasn't played in any of the scrimmages yet. Without Rotroff, Wauseon still had very close scrimmages with high quality teams (Toledo St. Johns & Hilliard Bradley). I am sure they are prepared to face any team.

I expect these two teams to make a deep run again in the post-season. Should be a fun first game of the year. Sounds like it's has a potential be have sellout crowds for both games!

Wauseon's losses from last year far outweigh Archbold's. The Streaks are the veteran team and have GREAT guards.

With that being said, the key to this game is not Rotroff, it's Brooks Gype. Rotroff was out first game last year at Archbold and Gype gashed the Streaks all night. Gype is a difficult match up for Archbold because at 6'3/6'4 he can bury you from the outside or go inside and hurt you as well.

Wauseon had a great defensive team last year but lost two leaders in Britsch and Bzovi and they could both play great defense. Can Armstrong and Seiler step into those roles and be as productive???

Don't have a horse in the race but I think Gype is too much for the Streaks again this year. Indians win 45-40

To answer your question about Seiler and Armstrong is yes. Seiler filled in for Rotroff last year when he missed the 3-4 weeks of the season last year. Seiler also started for Wauseon against Archbold last year when they won without Rotroff. For Armstrong, him and Britsch got an equal amount of playing time last year at the point guard position. Both alternated in and out pretty equally. With that being said, both of these guys have a lot of experience are their positions.

Wauseon wins round 1; 60-54 in a great game.

Archbold got into foul trouble the whole game. Correct if I'm wrong, but I think Wauseon had over 30 foul shots while Archbold had around 12.

Round 2 should be a better game with both teams being highly improved.

Great Job Krasula24! Thanks for the updates. I couldn't make the game last night and tried listening at my sisters house but they were tough to listen to, couldn't follow the action very well.

Saw Wauseon put a beatdown on Genoa last night. I saw Genoa in a scrimmage and they were solid....with quite a bit back from last year's 20-4 team. Impressive win based on what I saw from the Comets a couple weeks ago.
