Wow. Congrats. Quite the "pitcher's duel" in game 65 (2-0 win)

There were four games, at Heinz field that day and that was the most exciting of the four.

The irony of the guy who has complained for years over a couple dollar increase in a ticket, spending thousands of dollars to drive thousands of miles to see often meaningless games is not lost on me.

Maybe meaningless to you, but not to me, those whop were there or those who were playing in it.

I go where I want, when I want.
I go to the Senate league games that have 5 dollar tickets to the GWOC who charges 8 bucks.
I can go to any game in Western Pa for free, because if a media pass a guy gave me, without asking for, as long as I take picks and/or do a game report for him.

I have a trip to Iowa planned next year, three trips to Kentucky, at least two to Pa, if not three,a trip to Tennessee, Georgia, Indiana and I will throw in several Ohio games.

Of course the trips will be determined by weather and health. Heath robbed me of four games this season(The last two weekends) One game in W.VA and three in Indiana.

I really don't see the logic there. If someone loves coffee, but refuses to go to Starbucks, is that a problem?

----

As for me. I'm up to 71 varsity games attended this year with two weeks left. Pennsylvania title games next weekend and 9 of the 12 Texas title games in three weeks.

I'll write a recap again as usual after the season. So far, I've seen 707 varsity football games in the past 8 seasons.

90 games a season? Come on... really? That would be 6 games a weekend, every weekend, for eight years.

I've attended well over 1,000 high school games in my life, including about 200 state finals in Ohio and finals in six other states. In no year in my memory was I able to attend more than about 40-42 in a single year (nor did I try). I can't believe it is even reasonably possible to schedule it to make it happen. You sure that's not a typo?

That’s a full time job right there. How do you even begin to justify this hobby to your family and friends and house chores/ up-keep? Assuming you are retired, divorced and your kids are all grown up and out of the nest.

As I have said to these posters before, when someone left a commit, that I took as being rude.

Your wife goes with you to most of these games."
So no justifying this to your family.

Stop by Hartley for a game one of these years and talk with the coach and AD and principal about your perception of the usage of vouchers instead of making snide comments on the internet for 10 years.

Loved your 2017 & 2014 write ups, I really enjoyed reading your opinion on quality of football in the states you have visited & watched games. I hope you are closing in on your quest to visit every county in the country.

Was this directed at me or LCF? Because I don't think he meant to write 'comment' and autocorrect snagged him.

Thanks. I have 96 counties (or equivalents) and 5 Virginia cities left to go.

This year, I still have 15 games to go. In Texas, it looks like a distinct possibility that Katy and Allen will play for the 6AD1 title, and I'll unfortunately have to miss that.

How do you guys decide what games to attend during the regular season? You don't seem to attend a big rivalry game like Mass./McKin, but go somewhere that you can go to 2 or 3 games on a weekend.

Two years ago, I was going to see the Mass-McK game at Massillon. But, a problem is Halloween during Week 10 now with a kid. So, not sure when/if I can see that matchup. Last two years, I've only seen Saturday night games Week 10. As for outside Ohio. I like to plan a few trips around the country. Usually seek TN/KY in Week 0 before the OH/PA season starts. This year, went to Florida during the season, so saw games on the way down and way back, including games in Virginia and Alabama where I hadn't seen games before. Postseason, I had planned since last year to see the 7 South Dakota title games. And threw in the 14 Minnesota Semifinals on the way back the next weekend. In three weekends, it's the Texas titles for the 7th straight year.

Next year, I'm planning the Corky Kell Classic in Georgia Week 0, the Indiana and Tennessee state championships (Week 14 and 15), and possibly Texas once again Week 17 (PA Week 16). In a couple years, I'll do the CA title games. And also see some of the Kansas and Arkansas title games, since those two states I've missed as well. And also a northeast trip. Vermont/NH/ME/MA/RI/CT, somewhere. But that's more long term wishful thinking at this point.

For me, at the start of the year, I have all the schedules, verify the outliers (Thursday and Saturdays), and try to pair an afternoon game with a night game. Usually somewhere I haven't been or team(s) I haven't seen yet.

Thursday isn't much of an option. Friday is just what I feel like in the area. Try to pick a decent game, but will edge toward someone I haven't seen a game. Still several places in Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, Lawrence, and Beaver Counties I haven't been to yet.

Curious where you still haven't been in Virginia? I have seen your maps, just have had trouble picking it out at the scale it is.

The four counties are:

Orange, and the three-in-a-row: Buckingham, Cumberland, and Powhatan.

The five independent cities are:
DC metro:
Manassas
Manassas Park
Fairfax

And further south both close to each other:
Lexington
Buena Vista

I plan to get the rest the next time I drive to or from Florida. Probably next summer or falls is my guess. Have one more county in Maryland that bugs me because it's not the easiest to reach (US301 does run through it), but it's on Delmarva, so basically have to plan to drive there one time just to get it.

That's funny. I live in Fairfax Cty, about 10 min from Fairfax City and 20 min from Manassas/Manassas Park

For me. I still try and see match ups I think will be good. Then try and hit some new places each year. I like small towns so for the most part. I stick to the smaller schools.

Two questions.

1.) who are the top 5-10 teams you have seen in person throughout the years?

2.) Has quality of play gotten better, worse or about the same? Contrast differences you have noticed.
