Belmont is a Dayton Public School. The Bison made the DII R8 playoffs this past fall with a 9-0 record but lost in the 1st round. They also made the DIII R12 playoffs last year but lost in the 1st round. Their current coach is partial to the single wing offense.

Dayton Belmont had a very good boys basketball program during the 1960's. They defeated Canton McKinley in the 1963-64 state finals. Bill Hoskins was one of the stars of that state championship team.

I would think with that schedule the new voucher athletes, will help the Hawks win most of these games, if not all of them.

Won't they all change next year as we assemble the best possible put together teams we can with leadership scholarships given to incoming freshmen who had the foresight to prepare for the rigors of a Catholic education by enrolling in 7th grade at the designated feeder school(s)? CBP roster count two fat kids are all getting cut!

Great schedule. They will handle it. May lose a couple, but will be battle tested come week 11 and once again will contend for title

Good question. The divisions were re-aligned this year with the competitive balance, will they continue with the bi-annual adjustment, or are we back to annual?

This is the best I could find:
2-1-3 Enrollment information used for classification shall be provided by the State Department of Education’s Education Management Information System (EMIS) to the OHSAA. All boys and girls in grades 9, 10 and 11 included in the school’s October EMIS report shall be counted for enrollment purposes with the exception of students who are identified as children with disabilities within the multiple-handicap category. The Board of Directors is authorized to adopt policy for assigning students, who are not specified as belonging to a particular high school, to the appropriate member high school and to publish the policy on the Association’s website. The policy, first prepared in April 2007 and since modified, is posted on the OHSAA website (www.ohsaa.org).

Section 2. Tournament Assignment – Team Sports of Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball and Softball
2-2-1 Teams in the sports of football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball shall be assigned to a division based upon that school team’s Adjusted Enrollment Count. For purposes of this section, Adjusted Enrollment Count is the count as determined by adding the Initial Enrollment Count (EMIS reported number of boys or girls) and the Additional Roster Count for the given sport (Initial Enrollment Count + Additional Roster Count = Adjusted Enrollment Count).

2-2-2 The Additional Roster Count is determined by multiplying each student on the given sport’s Initial Roster (all students in grades 9-12 who were on the roster of the freshman team, junior varsity team, varsity team, etc., at any time during the course of the school year), by the specific
factor or Tier and adding them together.

Note: The annual submission of the Initial Roster Count for each respective sport shall be utilized to help determine the division to which that team shall be assigned the following school year.

http://www.ohsaa.org/Portals/0/About...SAA/Bylaws.pdf

If I understand it correctly (I am not a lwayer), the base enrollment numbers (the EMIS numbers) will be taken annually (Old bylaw said October of every even-numbered year. This one simply says October), and the competitive balance adjustments will also occur on a yearly basis. Teams in sports where CB is in effect must submit their rosters during that sport's season and can then submit any corrections during a brief window after the season (ex. 1: Kid becomes eligible during the season who was not expected to eligible, he gets added to the corrected roster. Ex. 2: Kid is on your roster at start of season but transfers during season, he is removed from the corrected roster.), and the base enrollment numbers (the EMIS numbers) will also be provided each year.
