Hiring Wrestling Coaches

We need some help. If you are willing to help. We need High School and Jr High numbers. And How many paid coaches that go along with the numbers. We need as many estimates as we possibly can get. This will go a long way in helping us hire our coaches for the first year of the program.

Smaller school, for better reference since you are starting out (probably numbers maybe low at first).

High School- 13-18 high of about 25 this coming season. 2 paid coaches (HC, Assistant)
JH- 8-12 high of 20 last season, 1 paid coach.

There are usually 1 or 2 volunteer coaches as well.

You want to see something funny, when the team goes to a pool to bracket 2 day tournament that lets all extras be put into the pools, so about 20-25 kids wrestling that day AND the JH has a tournament...the 2 HS coaches are always scrambling around mats like chickens with their heads cut off.

My opinion we should have at least 1 or 2 more paid coaches since there will now be a JV schedule this year, but that isn't in the cards right now.

Stress to your admin now before it is too late. Numbers should not dictate the amount of coaches. You could have 8 kids on your team and still end up with 4 on the mat at the same time. You should have a minimum of 3 paid HS coaches and 2 paid MS coaches. Then if needed you can split a contract or two to create more paid coaches (but dont tell them that or they will give you 2 at HS and 1 at MS and tell you to split them).
