Hypothetical question here. If Euclid was to beat Mentor, would they be #1 in Region 1 for the playoffs?

I have had them at 5-4 with a win over St X for a while. Haven't changed it yet, but I won't be surprised at all if they also beat Moeller or Eds. But the win over X in Cincy will be tough too. Ignatius has had a tough time when going down there. Should be a very interesting last three weeks for them.

They would pass Mentor. Like Wildcat97 says, it depends on the McKinley/Massillon matchup for where they fall. McKinley will be #1 if they are the only 10-0 team.

Berea-Midpark got the first win they need to crash the party by outlasting Olmsted Falls. I actually have them upsetting Avon Lake this week. AL has been playing with fire a bit this year. Their late game luck could run out if they let B-M's offense get rolling.

I think B-M still set to lose to Avon and Avon Lake but they certainly become a candidate to bust in with a win this next week. I see them losing to AL by several scores

I’m surprised some of you have Ed’s beating St. Ignatius. The eagles have failed to beat the wildcats and coach Kyle on several occasions when they had more talented players and better team on paper. I see St. Ignatius as the favorite until the eagles can beat them.

It appears that Mentor, McKinley, Solon and Euclid are locks. I think that 2 wins for Iggy and Ed's also locks them in. Strongsville and Fitch are probably favored in every game the rest of the season. If Heights can beat Maple Heights, and/or Berea Midpark runs the table, then things get very interesting. Not sure Massillon Jackson has enough left on the schedule to get in. Thoughts?

I think it looks close on paper, but why so surprised? St Eds has the most explosive offense in Region 1. They have some talent on defense too with that back seven. St Ignatius has the best defense in Region 1, but their offense still remains behind the curve. Coaching is a factor, but the Eagles have the superior QB. That position has made a big difference in the rivalry over the years.

The game is still being played at Browns Stadium, I assume. That could be a wildcard in all of this too.

IMO Mentor, McKinley, Euclid and Solon are locks to make it. The other 4 spots could go any way. Iggy has to beat 2 out of 3 Ed's, Moeller and X, while Ed's has to beat 1 out of 2 Moeller and Iggy. Iggy is no lock to make it by any stretch. Strongsville has terrible Harbin games weeks 9 and 10, so I could see them winning out and still not making it if teams ahead of them keep winning. Cleveland Hts chances come down to them beating Maple, who has played NOBODY this year (and the LEL is terrible outside of C Hts and Maple), so I have no idea how good they are. Outside of Mentor and McKinley, this region could look vastly different as far as seeding goes in 3 weeks.

One more potential party crasher may exist in Shaker Hts. provided they defeat Strongsville this week. The match-up appears to be an playoff elimination game for the loser. Should the Red Raiders prevail they do have Solon and Euclid left on its schedule.

The Tigers are starting to surprise some people and they are starting to gain some confidence and momentum.Heights two bookends on the defensive line 6'4 240 lbs Anthony Johnson Jr and on the other end 6'3 243 lb Justin Wodtly have been creating havoc in the backfield,Wodtly is also the tight end and running back on offence.

Anybody know if Glenville will have to forfeit their five wins? It hasn't been announced that their punishment includes forfeits, which is a little surprising if the OHSAA ruled that Glenville was using ineligible players. If it eventually does lead to forfeit, that would impact Mentor and Euclid. Mentor could still be the No. 1 seed in that case, but only if McKinley loses to Massillon. In my projections, Euclid had a pretty big gap over the No. 5 seed. So it might not effect their chances too much at a home game, but it could depending on how St Ignatius and Fitch finish.

The Cleveland.com article about the situation makes no mention of forfeiting wins. These are the 5 sanctions they mentioned:

Glenville shall be removed from the 2018 football tournament;
The school is being placed on probation through the 2020-21 school year, adding that ďany further infractions of this nature shall place the schoolís membership in jeopardyĒ;
CMSD is being reprimanded for ďa lack of administrative responsibility and institutional control for failure to implement these business rulesĒ; (The two-page letter outlines OHSAA bylaws.)
CMSD is fined $5,000 for administrative errors; and
The central office staff and building administrators at each member high school is required to participate in continuing education with the OHSAA compliance staff throughout the probationary period.

Seems like this situation is more of a punishment for the administration than actually punishing the football team (outside of missing the playoffs this year).

The combined records of the five teams Shaker has beaten is 8-27. Strongsville should beat the Raiders this weekend.

True, but, until that happens Shaker Hts. has chances for the post season...Just like the other "bubble teams" discussed. Plus, the game is at Shaker...On a Saturday...A setting ripe for a weird result I say.
Bottom line, loser of this match-up is out of the post season discussion and that leaves Shaker in the discussion for the moment...I contend anyway.

Shaker is going to have to become superhuman if they want to beat Strongsville, Solon and Euclid in consecutive weeks to finish the season. Good luck with that lol

Actually, I believe a win over Stronsgville is not out of the realm of possibility...And should that occur, the Red Raiders have a game with Solon that would vault them right into mix for a playoff spot.
One step at a time...With a win against Strongsville this weekend, I don't think the Red Raiders will necessarily need to beat both Solon and Euclid...With Solon looking to be the most vulnerable of the two.

I see your point. If Solon gets absolutely wrecked by Mentor this week, they might be reeling with 2 straight losses. Could be right place at the right time for the Raiders. I guess we will find out. I still think Strongsville is a tough out for them. They played Euclid and Solon close and didn't get blown out by Mentor. And they should be confident coming off a win against Medina.

Strongsville was down a bundle to Mentor early and the game was, for all intents and purposes, over by halftime...Euclid blitz Strongsville in the 2nd half and the Panthers won going away...Solon struggled with Strongsville and got shutout by Euclid...Which shows the vulnerability of the Comets...Should Shaker Hts. beat Strongsville on Saturday number crucnchers should calculate the possibility of a Shaker win over Solon and what impact that will have on the bottom portion of the playoff field in R1.

Shaker has little chance.

It does seem that if Glenville used ineligible players they forfeits will be forthcoming. Seems strange to have that kind of violation and no forfeits.

Jackson will get good L2 points from the teams they've already beaten. Mayfield should win their next 2 and has a chance at beating Riverside in week 10. Boardman will win at least 2 and maybe all 3 of their remaining games (Fitch in week 9). Lake should win its last 2. Their week 10 game becomes guaranteed points for Jackson if they beat Green next week. Jackson's next 2 opponents may not add many more L2 points, and Hoover has a knack for making life difficult for Jackson when Jackson has a playoff berth at stake.

Jackson's game on Friday against Canton CC is enormous. Neither team can afford a loss, and Strongsville would benefit greatly from the L2s if Canton CC finds a way to win.

That is the way I thought it goes too. Now they may need to go back and see which games the inelgible players participated in, and only forfeit those games, if they won them
