I guess that depends on your definition of levels. He is a bit better at freestyle because of his gut wrench, but his folk credentials are close to as good....Ohio state champ, Super32 3rd. Also, if you watched the match yesterday, it totally translates to folk. Took him down 4 times and the only exposure points were a folk type turn. If he is not elite at folk, I donít know who in the country would be considered elite right now.

Carson lost to Ramirez in ot last yr at the Ironman, and got screwed in doing so...so if he isn't on an elite folk style level yet, then neither is Ramirez...and if those 2 aren't I'm not really sure what "elite" level is...people are funny nowadays...

Who said he wasn’t elite? I said his freestyle is on a different level than his folk and he has a lot better resume in free as well. He’s going into his senior year and his best win in folk is? He’s really really good and he’s going to do very well in college. I’m just not sure how good he is in folk yet, because his resume in folk at this point in his career is really sparse for a #1 in the nation type kid and we haven’t seen many matches of him versus the best in folk. For instance Ramirez the kid he beat in free at Who’s #1 has folk wins over David Carr, Shane Griffith, Soehnlen, Anthony Artalona, Kai Bele, etc.

100% he is better in Freestyle, but he is ELITE in folk style as well...and it's unfortunate you missed the OLib/Perry dual, Brecksville and Ironman along with the OHSAA tournaments...there was some pretty good matches at those ...let'sbeat Emil twice so there's that... badly the 2nd time...He torched DJ Shannon, pinned J. Lagoa...Last year took 3rd at Super 32 and without going through the bracket I'd venture to say he beat more than just JV kids...

The issue is that his freestyle performance is so good his sterling record in folk gets overshadowed. There is not doubt that he is at the highest high school level in both. Might he lose a match next year...sure but I would not bet on it.

Carson's first half of his high school career has been marred by injuries.

Congratulations to Carson. Great wrestler and better young man. He is as humble and repectful as they come. How about the performance of the Decatur Brothers? Those two guys have been busy playing football since the end of July! To compete at this level coming off the football field is just incredible!

According to Flo, they decided on freestyle because they’re likely to meet at Ironman...so I would assume Kharchla will be at 170.

yeah the boot seems to be effective in freestyle to catch guys off guard. His stuff reminded me of Mitch Clark Camp and his "potato sack" when he pulled his head back for a near fall. One reason I enjoyed his match was his boot series.
