not sure where you're going with this or why you're starting this, but i said right after that that it's impressive they put up 30 points with those two guys being out.

losing one lineman is usually not a huge deal but losing whole side of a line (be it left or right) usually spells trouble for an offense. obviously hurt the run game more than the pass.

He's stating it because the offense did not put up 30 points. The defense had a pick 6.

Dupree scored on a pick 6. The offense didn't put up 30 points.

Brings up the question when offensive stats are posted, say a team averages 25 points per game, do they exclude defensive TD's? I'm thinking they don't but never really looked at it.

ok. i get that. so you using the Steelers giving up whatever points per game they give up doesn't really jive when they had a turnover vs the Browns that went back to the 1 yd line. i don't put that on the D when the Browns end up scoring right after that.

Their defense still sucks.

It's blatantly obvious when they got picked apart for 40+ by Mahomes and Fitzpatrick put up another 27 last night. If Fitzpatrick doesn't piss down his leg on three straight throws, they probably put up 40+ last night too.

I'd throw the Browns out of the equation as their offense sucked up until about 2:00 left in the half last Thursday. If Baker's playing, the Browns probably put 30+ up on their D too.

Tyrod missed opportunities ALL over the field that even a middle of the road QB would've recognized. I don't credit the Steeler defense as much against the Browns as I do an inept offense. The opportunities were there.

Pretty sure all the points are included whether it is offense or defense or ST's.

but the steelers defense is still trash.

MEdia wants to say only 1 INT was his fault, but the one they say the receiver stopped you can see it flop out of the QB's hand and go way off course.

Tips balls suck...........our ole football coach said that if the WR tips it then it is non on you...but if the defender tips it first no matter if it is a the lOS or downfield it is on the QB.

So statistically the Steelers offense scored 30 pts yesterday?

pretty much. when they "rank" team in PPG, those will count towards the Steelers points per game average, just as the 6 points the Steelers scored on the pick 6 will count towards the Bucs D ranking in points given up per game.

With the team likely having a gag order on the whole Bell thing what do you all think is going to happen?

OL made it known what they thought before the got their collective pee-pees slapped for talking publicly about it.

WInning solves all so if Bell does come back and the team wins then most will forgive and forget but I don't think it is going to happen.

His agent says he is working out twice a day in Miami but come on....

Teams don't hit in season. I think they still only get 17 days a season in pads and they aren't out there hitting so his only time to really get acclimated is going to be in games.

PLay the old browns next week. Winnable game depending on which Billy Mitchell, wait, I mean joe flacco, shows up.

I get it EP. My point was and the reason I asked the question about defensive scores, kick returns was that when they say the Minnesota Vikings or Atl. Falcons lead the league in scoring at 40.2 pt/gm they are including all scores. Most people think that tracks only offensive output...so you might lead the NFL in scoring but your you offense might not.

there's really no reason to respond to EP's toolness/trollness/D-baggery.

I honestly don't think his former players have said much positive about him. Bradshaw took heat for his comments but it's pretty apparent at this point he was pretty close to the truth.

Tomlin was a surprise hire. When that happened, I think everyone on the planet thought it was Russ Grimm's job for the taking. Tomlin just "wowed" the Rooney's in the interview process.

It was thought to be a two horse race between Grimm, the OL coach, and Whisenhunt the OC.

If I recall most thought that Whiz had the upper hand since he was an OC.

WIth the Rooney Rule interview Tomlin apparently wowed them and the rest is history.

We can always go back and rehash things and I wish there were more wins but overall I am not so sure a diff coach would have won more SB's. YOu just never know.

Either the Rooneys are actually a bunch of idiots who have lucked into creating one of the leagues most successful franchises, or they felt they were in a "walk the walk" situation. I just cannot believe Mike Tomlin actually "wowed" anyone unless they think speaking in platitudes and prioritizing being one of the boys is "wowing".

Drafting 4 HOFer's in the same draft back in the 70's didn't hurt getting the ball rolling for them. Prior to that, they were worse than the modern day Browns have been since 1999.

The Steelers were doormats for years, but I don't know that any NFL franchise has the sustained record of awful football of the Browns.
