Dad attack flag football coach

Seems that Daddy didn't like Junior getting rotated out as the QB on the 6 to 8 year old flag football team-

It sounded like he was in the middle of a classic noogie move and wasn't able to complete it. Everyone needs to settle down, especially Sig.

Sadly, I've witnessed way too many people that are close to behaving this badly. Fortunately no one has crossed the line but there are parents that think their child's athletic career will be defined by what happens at 6-8 years old.

Just added the same poll to this thread that was in the article. Curious what the reaction is on here...

I can't stand parents that get too heavily involved in their kids athletics. They take all the fun out of it for the kid.

It's usually a package deal. You ban the patent then they pull the kid.

It must be the presence of a football. I saw more bad behavior at flag football games than any other sport.

The kid slipped out when he tried a dutch rub and Indian burn, so he resorted to a noogie.

Try an 11 yr old girls soccer game. Holy f, they are crazy azz parents. I can't even sit by the sideline. I usually watch from a distance.

Yea...probably couldn't keep the dad away anyway. He would be wearing fake mustaches and dark glasses on the sidelines.

Hang in there. They get better as they get older generally speaking. You still have a few but they get minimized eventually.

I see what you did there! Has been a long time since I heard the term "dutch rub". And no, I don't want a demonstration.

The best thing that could happen to youth sports, impractical as could be, would be the banning of all parents at all competitions.

Yes this is true. By the time my daughter was playing U12 Club you didn't generally hear a peep out of the parents (at least on our team). I mumbled to myself plenty but never said a word out loud. She's playing at UC now and I still mumble on occasion.

I have to admit I haven't been to any youth flag football games but for me it would be hard to imagine the behavior there being worse than what I have seen at youth wrestling. If they gave a license for parenting there are a lot of parents I saw at youth wrestling matches and tournament who would have had their license suspended or revoked.

I've coached for 20 years and this sort of thing has progressively gotten worse. Lots of Marinovich dads out there and 9 times out of 10 that same dad's playing career ended in the 7th grade. I've seen a lot of great kids ruined by idiotic crazy dads.

I'll readily admit to not having spent time around soccer and tennis, or wrestling. Coached flag football, baseball and basketball and those took up the entire year.

I think that the consensus is that parents are ruining youth sports.

I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a group of kids playing a pickup sport in a neighborhood, other than older teens playing basketball.

Understandable. His kid was definitely going to be an NFL QB, these were valuable reps he is missing out on. I'd choke him out too if he came between me and my millions.

The last paragraph is huge for me.
I drive around neighborhoods in good weather & I'm dumbfounded at the lack of kids playing. Not only sports, but Even bike riding, tag, etc. But i can't point fingers. My current teenagers rarely do or did those things. We as parents (If you have kids in this age group) need to limit the Xbox, smart phones, etc and encourage playing. But then again, no other kids are outside playing so it's back to square one

Exactly. Then they're just the weird kid standing outside by themselves.

There are other leagues the kid can get into. I think banning the whole family is appropriate. Guy must have been drunk or high or something.
