Model Goes Blind After Tattooing Eyeball, Warns Others of Dangers

Quote:
A MODEL has spoken out after an extreme body modification procedure went wrong - causing her to "lose sight" in one eye.

Catt Gallinger, from Ottawa, Canada, decided to get a sclera tattoo, which changes the colour of the whites around your eye.

She shared disturbing pictures of her eye weeks after the treatment she now considers a "massive mistake".

The 24-year-old former pet nutritionist had the procedure four weeks ago and is still struggling to see out of one eye.

Sclera modification - in which a specialist injects a liquid into the eyeball to stain the whites of a person's eye - is becoming popular among body modification fans.

"Pet nutritionist"? Although I am against the use of test animals unless absolutely necessary and then with as much humaneness as possible, I bet she has done things to herself that she would never allow to be done to animals.

Tremendous feat of science that we've staved off natural selection long enough for her to make it to 24. Something tells me this isn't the first "massive mistake" she's made.

Sort of like those who venture too close to a cliff to take a selfie and then fall off and die. Nature's way of weeding out the herd. Wouldn't surprise me if she's got tattoos on her genitalia. All of the under 45 crowd getting these tattoos is going to finally wake up when they are old and go "what the heck did I do that for?" Or maybe they won't

I've written this before. I have a good friend who has a daughter, now 30, who was an up and coming model in her late teens and early 20's. 6' 1, looked like Cindy Crawford. But just dumb as a box of rocks. Came home one day at the age of 21, and announced to her Mom and Dad that she had gotten a tattoo, on her entire back and spine, of a tree trunk and limbs. And the Mom and Dad said to her "you've just ruined your modeling career and the only way you would have had to earn a living". Devastating, she's never modeled since, she works at a coffee shop. And I'm sure she screws up when she is working there. Her Dad asked me to give her something to do at my offices one time when she was 16. So I had close to 500 files that needed to go into some legal file cabinets. So I told her to put them in by alphabetical order. Most of the files were individual names. Of course, of course, when I had someone check the work she did when she was done, she had put all the files away based primarily on the first name of the person or their spouse, or just in some illogical random fashion based on the first letter she saw. Of course she was never used again, her Dad asked me what happened and I just smiled and said nothing. The majority of the population out there is like this, it exists here on Yappi.

This does not shock me at all. As a society, we've "liberalized" ourselves to the point where the smart, common folk get shouted down because they are too controlling. Kids want to "live their lives" "do whatever they want" and then wake up at the age of 30 and their life is a trainwreck. Sadly though, more and more 40-50 year olds raised these messed up kids and our society has to pay for it.

Look, I have no problem with tatoos if you want one. But just like alot of things, anything done on a "whim" isn't a good idea. Give it some thought. Tatoos do not go away. If you're a 19 year old college kid with no responsibilites, a cool looking tatoo makes sense. When you're in a job interview 3 years later and that tat is visible, you've potentially closed a door on opportunity.

Red, you are right, its the non existence of prospective thinking, the lack of understanding of the future consequences of present actions. So you look "cool" to yourself and a few others for now, but down the road - jobs, blood disorders, hep C, its permanent, it looks horrible after the age of 50. I guess its like taking steroids - you look all puffed up when you do it, and then you get saggy and pimply and your hair falls out and your heuvos shrivel up and your bedroom performance goes south. So you can look better in a muscle shirt at the gym. A lot of this "need" is based on insecurity as well.
