Because you are private means nothing.
I'm curious how you know this? Not saying you are wrong but you seem pretty certain, why?

Let's just say I know someone who is very involved in this particular thing we are discussing.

Oh yes they certainly are as far as college preparedness, going and graduation rates, which are all that matter to me.

Only about 50% of the students from Centerville, Springboro, Bellbrook and Beavercreek have a college degree within six years of high school graduation. Oakwook is about 67% which is outstanding for a public school.

Alter, Carroll and CJ are all above 85%. I don't have the numbers for Dayton Christian.

Oh course there are smart kids in these public schools and there are good public schools. I never said otherwise, but the Dayton area privates do better overall as far as college preparedness. They have a higher percentage of kids going to college and actually getting college degrees than these public schools.

The public schools you named are very good public schools especially Oakwood which does have performance much closer to most private schools.

What does that mean? I am looking at the actual data not hearsay from some unknown person.

How so? People who rely on an insult to end a discussion are usually the person that would be considered a moron.

Again, the "floor" for privates is higher than the "floor" for publics. That is the only difference.

Correct. There is no private school magic fairy dust. Privates cannot take kids who are not smart enough to get into college, and magically get them into college. Part of the reason the school my kids go to is in the top 10 is because of the socioeconomics of our district. It isn't the school that creates the success, it is the people who send their kids to the school that determine that.

Eh, in some cases I think a private school could help that sort of kid get to college. But it's definitely not a blanket thing where it's 100% sure fire going to help them more than a public school.

And highly rated districts continue to draw in those people. It's a circle.

A private might help a kid struggling at Colerain, but probably wouldn't make a difference if that kid was at Wyoming.

Also privates benefit from being able to expel troublemakers and often parents will pull kids who can't keep up academically at a private (i.e. not wanting to waste money).

I often say the real benefit to a private education is being able to ensure who your kid goes to school with and associates with.

Agreed. The vested interest from the parents looking for some what of a return on investment is a big role among with who they associate with.
