Definitely regret never getting to see him live. Had an opportunity but passed it up to work a little extra. RIP

Really liked his duo with Steve Nicks, and I thought "You Got Lucky" (along with accompanying MTV video) was a fresh and melodic composition that stood out from the other early 80's tunes.

However, it was this cover of "Don't Bring Me Down" that was my favorite by TP. Q-FM 96 in Columbus played this frequently for a couple of years over 30 years ago, then it pretty much disappeared:

You picked up on that....

Probably would have been better off if he had just stuck to the Gainesville Green of his youth....

I don't think he was trying to impress anyone. I think he just wanted to share a good time.

...I agree. He had made the kind of music I wouldn't go out and buy, but if it was on the radio, I'd never change the channel.

Never much enjoyed Petty or Stevie Nicks so their duo was like nails on a chalkboard to me. To each his or her own with music.

Definitely agree there. The Traveling Wilburys was pretty awful too.

Was awesome live. Saw him for the first time in the fall of 1979 on the west coast, Here comes my Girl was really catching on.

I don't know what is going on with rockers lately, and actors, but it seems like a lot of men in their late 60's are biting the dust. And most of them were heavy duty coke users when coke became the thing in the late 70's and 80's. I can't imagine what damage that inflicted on arteries and veins with daily use. And now its catching up with them all.

But then again you have some freaks who have survived and are still alive - any of the Stones (Keith Richard should have died 1000 times by now), any of the Who, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Steven Stills, Neil Young - insert 60's and 70's rocker or actor - how are any of them still alive with the amount of coke and herion and weed they ingested into their bodies.
