Picks!!

57kg- Very interesting. Severado is a junior Greco medalist, Cashman, Heinselman and Tagg have all made Cadet teams before, and Brandon Courtney was runner up here ladt year I think. Gimme Heinselman, who doesn't lose to Americans too often. EDIT- Teasdale registered, I like him here over Heinselman.

61kg- Gomez and Arujau are the top two here I think, and I really like Vito Arujau.

65kg- Two college guys are the best here I think- Kaden Gfeller and Kanen Storr. I'll take Gfeller, who has impressed me in the last year and has the freestyle experience to hang with Storr.

70kg- Stacked weight. Carr/Lee/Teemer are top 3 at 152lbs, Verkleeren is a Cadet gold medalist, Berge made a Cadet team. I think Carr is the best guy here so I'm taking him, but whoever wins this weight is a medal contender at Worlds.

74kg- Weak weight? Has Kaleb Romero wrestled freestyle before? I'm picking him regardless

79kg- Best weight here. Brooks/Wittlake both cadet medalists, Breske/Mantanona/Stefanik all college guys, Grello made a Cadet team, Hidlay top 3 guy in the country, and oh my there's Mikey Labriola. I think him and Brooks/Wittlake are the top 3 guys and I'm taking... Labriola. Or Brooks.

86kg- Beard vs Hoffman again will be fun. I'm taking Gavin though, think he is a tad better in freestyle

92kg- Warner is the best guy here, and I think he is a medal threat at Worlds

97kg- Reigning Cadet gold medalist Kerkvliet leads a weak group. He should beat Elam in the finals

125lbs- Bunch of college guys and Seth Nevills in a good heavyweight class. Kind of lost here, wish Gable wrestled Juniors this year. I'll go Costello

Important note- if Daton Fix and/or Gable Steveson (2017 Junior medalist) finish top 3 at the open, there is some kind of wrestle off they can request. Would be more likely for Daton than Gable

Hopefully after Romero makes weight here, everyone can finally understand that he'll be at 165 next year for OSU and not 174.

I know Decatur tweeted at Gavin Teasdale about putting on a show at vegas and Teasdale tweeted back saying lets do it.

So I guess we will see if they show.

I agree about Fix getting top 3 but not Gable. I'm really interested in seeing how Gable does against some of these top guys, but can't really imagine him beating any of them - guys like Coon, Varner, Rey Bradley, Nelson, Hall. Now he is the best in the World at the JR level, but his resume for wrestling college level guys is that he won the Daktronics in which he beat 4 guys, 2 of whom were backups on their team, and 2 who failed to qualify for NCAAs. This is a pretty steep step up for him.

Agree on everyone but Hall- Gable handles Jordan Wood, who lost in OT to Hall this year. I think Gable would struggle a bit with Coon, Varner and Bradley especially.

Decatur went 61kg, so doesn't look like they will meet.

Semis!

57kg: Teasdale v Courtney, Heinselman v Bianchi.
61kg: Gomez v Saunders, Decatur v Arujau (Oh my Decatur v Arujau)
65kg: Murin v Alirez, Demas v Gfeller (Murin good win over Storr)
70kg: Carr v O'Connor, Berge v Van Maanen (This Van Maanen kid is legit)
74kg: Dow v Plott, Lewis v Moody (Why does 74kg stink at both age groups?)
79kg: Finesilver v Labriola, Breske v Brooks (Finesilver good win over Wittlake)
86kg: Norfleet v DePrez, Bonaccorsi v Embree (So much for my Hoffman v Beard pick)
92kg: Warner v Raschka, Woodley v Borst
97kg: Kerkvliet v Correnti, Boyd v Elam
125kg: Gremmel v Hillger, Nevills v Metz (Nevills 10-0 over Costello)

74kg is weak at the senior level because of Burroughs. With 10 weights, I feel like guys would rather move up or down instead of testing their luck against JB, just my guess/opinion anyway.

Lol and Dom Demas just beat Kaden Gfeller. And Verkleeren lost. And Teasdale lost. This is wild.

Looks like Heinselman can step in at 125 at OSU. Rather see him red-shirt or start out in the open tourneys and see how the other guys do at 125.

I was thinking the same thing. If he gets the call, he'll be competitive right away. I thought he'd need a year to grow into the weight, but he showed this week that he's ready. 125 will be really interesting next year. You have NaTo, Cruz and Bresser graduating, and rumors have it that Suriano and Lizak may bump to 133 to avoid Lee. Fix will join the battle, but there may be room on the podium for a guy like Heinselman.

The match between Jordan Decatur and Vito Arujau is posted on Flo. Extremely impressive! He took down a Cadet World Silver Medalist like 4 times and a turn.

Yes, he lost to Austin Gomez in finals, but Gomez was a redshirt freshmen this year for Iowa State and a legit All American threat next year at 133, while Decatur has another year in high school.

Huge win for Decatur, arguably his most impressive freestyle win (or win of any style for the matter) to date.
