Why can't you put all the events in one file to publish here instead of clogging up the forum with separate posts for each event?

I guess I don't understand the point of posting them at all. Buams page has all of the results.

He's posting the top 10 in each event for 1 particular HS. You won't find that on baumspage.

I'm interested in the material because it's a school near me with a pretty strong history in the sport, but the material could fit into only 3 or 4 posts: field, sprints & hurdles, relays, and distance.

FWIW, I'm impressed that any school might know their top 10 performers in each event. I had to do a lot of work just to determine my school's top 3. Top 5 would've been nearly impossible for some events. Some schools might not even know all of their school records.

Howard is up to about 50 on the top ten list. No one ever seems to drop off. And it's only for his time as head coach. Nothing else matters.

I believe the years on the Woodridge calendar are designated as either B.H. or A.J, for "Before Howard" and "Anno Jeff." Massillon football is the same way. I believe this is 86 A.P. in Massillon. A.P. stands for "Anno Paul" as in Paul Brown.

In all seriousness, there are some schools (or more like coaches themselves) that do an excellent job of record keeping while there are others that keep absolutely nothing and then claim something as a record when it probably isn't.

I go to top 15 in each event and may add more to make it the "sweet 16", but it took an entire summer of research. Now, I can just insert or move on a spreadsheet.
For Indoor track I have gone to an "honor roll" where a certain mark gets on.

Was going to do that for outdoor when some district champs or State qualifiers did not make the list.... Instaed, I decided to just make a separate list of: District champs in each event. Same for League champs, regional champs, County champs, etc. My wife thinks my record keeping is an obsessive disorder..... and she is never (seldom) wrong.

The hard part is getting it set up and being sure that you've found everything there is to find. Maintaining it after that isn't so bad, but you never want to get too far behind on it.

I keep lists for our meet-by-meet results for each year, our school records, our stadium records, our relay meet records, our top 3, our sectional/district champs, our district/regional champs, our state qualifiers, and our state placers. I would love to dig up all the prelim results for our state qualifiers who didn't make finals to know their performances and placings. Some I have found, some I haven't. I contacted the OHSAA to see if they had any prelim results and never heard back. I stopped by their headquarters last year on the Thurs. before the state meet, but they were closed.

I also dug up all the state champions for my entire county. The state champion list was easy thanks to the data that was shared with the OHSAA and placed on their website a couple years ago. I was able to consult the local paper's microfilms and the library's collection of school yearbooks to get the names of the runners on the relays from the older years. I also found an additional state champ for my county from the 1948 high hurdles. The OHSAA only had page 2 of the results for that particular event on their website, and the final team scores support that. The local newspaper had the full results.

Later on, I also identified all the state qualifiers for one of the neighboring schools since they were curious to know if their list was complete. That's not a hard list to compile if you know the approximate dates of the district/regional meets or if your local paper does a full listing of state qualifiers a day or 2 before the state meet. It's when you don't know specific dates that microfilm research can take on a life of its own.

That could be a good offseason topic, kind of like last summer when I was trying to identify how many schools have qualified to state in every event. I still have numerous .pdfs of past district/regional results that I downloaded from newspaperarchive.com that I haven't examined yet.

I would think that because Canton McKinley has been around for so long that a top 25 list for the school would be merited. I did a top 25 for my alma mater which fielded its first varsity team in 1963. Since this is a thread about the pole vault, here is an example of that using the pole vault. I use a three letter code for the meet. I give the full name at the end of the list where I list what the three digit codes stand for. Btw, this list has not been updated in three years so the 13'0" vaults may well fall off.

I've got you all beat. Here are ALL the HS men's pole vaults over 18 feet nationally since the first by Joe Dial (Marlow, OK) back in 1981. Marks with a ! after the feet and inches indicated a vault made en-route to a higher height within the same competition.
