Soccer team kickers?

Does your program have a soccer player handling the kicking duties for the football team?

I'm aware that nothing is new, I want to know how many schools do it. A lot isn't the answer I'm looking for. At my school the soccer coach has forbidden his players to kick for the football team.

If they do I wonder what the policy is regarding practice.

Cloverleaf has a soccer player handling kick-offs. The kid has a nice toe on him. Deep or in the end zone. Nice high kicks.

I believe that Sidney's kicker (Hallie Truesdale) came from the soccer team however she doesn't appear to be playing soccer currently. Not sure if the school didn't allow it or she just made that choice.

New Phila has had a soccer player do the kicking since the mid 90s. They come and work out on their own after soccer practice. Last night after the 8th grade game he was working on field goals.

When I was in school we always had a soccer player kicking. Then for a few years the new soccer coach said no...last year he started allowing it.

We had a good relationship with the coach and several of our kickers came from the soccer team. We would send a coach on the Gator to pick the kid from the soccer field, practice our kicking game, and take him back when done. The kicker I really wanted was his daughter, but she wanted no part of it.

My last two seasons, the soccer team goalie was our kicker. His senior year he wanted to do more with football. So he practiced with us on defensive days and started at weak-side safety and was our kicker.

He was still the soccer team goalie, and team captain.

Anderson needs to pursue this option asap before it starts costing them games.

Dover has a history of using soccer players as kickers. This year, the backup kicker is a soccer player.

Interestingly, one of New Philadelphia's soccer players is also a current student and kicker at Tuscarawas Central Catholic.

Not sure why the soccer coach would object so long as it's understood up front by all parties which is the player's primary sport and which is secondary.

The biggest issue I could think of - outside of worry about injury on the football field (though that shouldn't be TOO much of a concern unless the kid is punting) - is aligning the football special teams practice segments and walk through (when the kicker is needed) around the soccer practice and game schedule ... most notably road games.

Finneytown--almost invariably yes, for some decades now.

A few years ago...2013 I think?...the kicker was not only playing two fall sports but was in the band as well. Stayed on the field at halftime and marched the show in his football uniform.

He wasn't the only football player in the band, and one of the drum majors that year did the halftime shows in her cheerleader outfit. But the 3-fer was unusual to say the least. Life's different at a small school.

All of the snap, hold, and kick for my Sycamore Aves has been atrocious so far this year. When Sycamore went in for what should have been the tying touchdown against Lakota West tonight, everyone in the stadium knew that Sycamore was going for 2 as they stood just as good a chance at converting the two-point conversion as the extra point in the rain.

Also, the conversion was successful and we pulled off a big win! Don't know if we will kick an extra point the rest of this season.

Coventry does that. Last year, our kicker was Jack Fuller. He is now a kicker for the University of Akron's football team. Even though soccer was his primary sport. Go figure.

Also, as an aside, I believe there was an athlete from Norton a few years ago, who did soccer, kicked for the football team, and was on the cross country team. Hows this for a pretty grueling workload?; play football Friday night, get up early on Saturday, run a sub 18 minute 5k, then proceed to kick a few goals on Saturday afternoon. Insane.

I don’t know if Ms. Truesdale went out for soccer this year, but I do know that Sidney (wisely, IMO) allows students to pick a primary and a secondary sport for each season.

And just like that, Anderson football poached a kid named Asher (?) from the soccer team for his first game last night, and he went 5/5 on EP's in the 35-3 win over Harrison.
