I heard there was a lot of booty-shaking and shade-throwing going on.

A bunch of rich celebs patting themselves on the back, what a world we live in... One of the most lauded performers was Janelle Monet and the thing that folks remeber the most about that was some of her dancers were parading around in vagina pants.

By the way, white men are no longer welcome at these type of events. The most talked about performance involving white guys was the lousy thing between Post Malone and the RHCP. The only positive mention was that John Mayer cut a Grammy in hald and gave aportion to Alicia Keys because he thought her performance was better than his. But then again when it comes to concert tickets those music bosses still like the $s the white dudes bring in from the road....

Accidently caught one presentation when I was tuning to see if the channel was running school delays for today and saw Kacey Musgraves so I saw her win. Was surprised, but she is amazing. Sexy, gorgeous, great voice, amazing song writing and great story teller in her songs. I know she won some big Country award recently but was surprised she won on the grammerlies.

Agreed. Caught Dolly's performance as I was channel-surfing. Glad to see a positive response from the audience to her new song ... Beck looked like he was in awe, lol. Not much of a country music fan myself, but I do appreciate some of the old-school artists.

Grammys

I watch/skim it still even though they have zero credibility in terms of knowing the hip hop genre. They routinely nominate some of the biggest trash acts like drake , nicki Minaj , cardi b, lil Wayne , Travis Scott etc. Earlier on it was crap like nelly , p diddy, Macklemore , pit bull etc

I was pleasantly surprised that childish gambino won for record and song of the year. First rap song to win EVER in either category which says it all. He was robbed recently by Bruno mars winning album of the year over him

There's always a few good performances and some other genres I like are more fairly represented Rap and hard rock though ... the voters can't be anymore ignorant

The Record Of The Year category recognizes the artist's performance as well as the overall contributions of the producer(s), recording engineer(s) and/or mixer(s) if other than the artist.

The Song Of The Year category recognizes the songwriter(s).

I looked it up.

Grammys

I think all country is trash and most soft rock is generic. We all have different tastes

Majority of new rap is trash though IMO too. But there are good mainstream acts out there and many more who arenít all over the radio

Modern country and soft rock does suck, just not as hard or as badly as rap.

I heard a rap group on one of Austin's radio stations. They did a few songs, can't remember the name but I actually kind of liked them. I am not a big rap guy but this was different. They werent cussing every 5 seconds over the beats you hear today.

https://m.soundcloud.com/third-root/...vation-mixtape

Third root. Some of their stuff wasn't for me. I did like they had something to say and do it in a way that isnt like mainstream rap. Social oriented. Beats are often made with real instruments. Lyrics are pretty solid that even if you dont like the message you can respect their song writing abilities

I liked the song evolve on that mixtape.

There is actually a movement in country by a group of artists that is more related to classic rock than modern country. Folks like Zac Brown, Brothers Osborne, and Margo Price share more in common with the jam band scene than the current country acts. Zac Brown's set changes by show and usually includes at least 1/3 rock and outlaw country covers; he has been known to include a 15 minute Whipping Post, could you see Blake Shelton pull that off? I just saw Brothers Osborne at the Agora in CLE and was thoroughly impressed, the musicianship was top notch and I got my $s worth. Wish the Grammys would put this kind of stuff on instead of some over produced pop act.
