Federal League 2016: Weeks 6-10+

(Editing this thread and bumping it up)

Here are the standings heading into week 7:

Jackson 6-0 (3-0)
McKinley 5-1 (3-0)
GlenOak 4-2 (2-1)
Perry 4-2 (1-1)
Lake 4-2 (0-2)
Green 2-4 (0-2)
Hoover 3-3 (0-3)

Four teams are realistically left in contention. Jackson sits in the driver's seat -- if they beat McKinley, they only have the two last place teams to knock off. If McKinley beats the Bears, they assume control of the league and must go through GlenOak and Perry to win it all. GlenOak and Perry have already lost to Jackson so if they want to share the championship then it helps them greatly for the latter scenario to happen. Lake almost got the win against the Bulldogs this week. Hoover played Perry tough, and Green is putting up bunches of points weekly but falling on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

Week #7 games will have a significant impact on playoff positioning:

The winner of Jackson vs. McKinley will be sitting in the #1 spot in the Harbin totals. A win by Jackson would secure a playoff spot. A win by McKinley would put them pretty close to securing a post season game.

St. Ignatius @ GlenOak.....not going to be easy for the Golden Eagles. Not a must win game, but a loss could mean that GlenOak would have to win out to make the playoffs. St. Ignatius finishes the season against Moeller, St. Xavier, and St. Edward. They don't want to go into that stretch coming off of a loss.

Lake @ Hoover....both looking for their first Fed win. A Hoover win keeps their playoff chances alive. A Lake win keeps them near the top 4 in their region.

Perry @ Green....Green is seeking an upset. Perry needs to make sure they aren't the victim.

Not fed games, but definitely on the radar as impact games:

Stow (6-0) @ Hudson (5-1)
Dublin Scioto (4-2) @ Worthington Kilbourne (5-1)
Beechcroft (6-0) @ Massillon (4-2)....as Massillon win would likely move them into the top four in R7

Football is supposed to be the ONE "go to" predictable thing that we can always tease Jackson about. Them having a successful football program might turn Yappi on its ear and would be too much for the stark county haters to handle. I think it is funny.

I'm very happy that Jackson is seeing success this year. They may have finally found a really good coach and there are always athletes at Jackson. Maybe they can turn this into more than a one year thing. The more good teams in Stark County the better in my opinion.

However, I do understand what you are saying about some other posters. They hate you because they aren't you.

Should be an interesting league battle the last four weeks with lots of playoff implications.

I think the long McDaniels/Balderson down era is over. McDaniels I could give a flying you-know-what about and while I appreciate that Balderson made the offense fun to watch, he ran the games like a track meet instead of football.

Seems like a lot of talent for the next couple years. Pallotta and most of the line will be back. No Dingler or Dear, though.

Bumping up my lonesome thread from last week...

Well, Jackson couldn't get it done at Central Catholic against the Bulldogs. The path to the Bears' first FLC in 15 years rests in Plain and Perry Townships, hoping for the upset. GlenOak and Perry control their own conference destinies heading into week 8. Lake is alive but hangs by a thread. Here are the standings:

McKinley 6-1 (4-0)
Jackson 6-1 (3-1)
Perry 5-2 (2-1)
GlenOak 4-3 (2-1)
Lake 5-2 (1-2)
Green 2-5 (0-3)
Hoover 3-4 (0-4)

What say you? Can anyone knock off the Bulldogs?

Just as with the last two, the three remaining opponents can beat McKinley. What remains to be seen is which, if any of them, will do so.
