I'm for anyone who could come in and be allowed to build a winning program.
I'd love a coach to be here for the next 20-30 years.

With Badre Bardawil having just quit coaching at his alma mater, St. Thomas Aquinas, and, as far as I know, having not accepted a new coaching position elsewhere, ... and considering his brother, Walid's, involvement with the IVC, through his new HC position at TCC, ... and considering that the two brothers have moved in similar circles (Walid mentioned to me that both brothers were involved at Massillon) ... and considering Badre's great relationship with Claymont, would it be too unreasonable to expect that Badre might consider the Claymont job again? I know Claymont doesn't play TCC in football, but in most other sports, the two schools compete. If Badre coached the Mustangs, surely the brothers could interact often, if both attend other school sporting events or attend IVC meetings. Or, if they prefer to face off in IVC football, Badre could apply for Strasburg's HC position (TCC's rival). Alternately, what about the currently-available former Triway HC, Drew Sarachman, considering Walid was his DC at Triway last season? Claymont is always hiring classified employees and might be able to offer him the desired position that Triway wasn't able to offer him.

Oh, yeah. And, Walid Bardawil is now TCC's new AD, in addition to HC. So, maybe he's planning on sticking around this area for awhile.

Did I miss something here? It looks like Strasburg hired a coach last week.

You're right, Mr. Slippery. I read that article, too, and then, I totally forgot about it. My bad!

No worries. I thought maybe something fell through because I hadn't seen anyone post about the hiring until I went back and rechecked the IVC thread.

We can dream, FootballFan 1795. Coach B would be the kind of hire that would get the 922 football fans excited, but we are dealing with the Claymont BOE, they're probably go with the Asst. 7th grade coach.

May be better off going internal and taking the lumps this year with an interim HC so they can do a real search right after week 10 when the schools and coaches that know what they're doing start the annual coaching carousel.

Trend with most schools lately is if they are financially keeping it tight to vest is to try to hire a coach that can fill an open spot in the teaching staff.

I would look at that as being a factor.

Thought Bardawil is coaching at Glenoak or Mckinley?

Speak up already! However, if that is the case they've gone with someone on the inside or very local or who has close ties to BOE or administration. This certainly would rule out anyone on the outside. Certainly happy that I did not encourage anyone I know from jumping into this. Ladies and Gents, they had to have had their minds made up before Tom got the pink slip. Something is very fishy if this is true.

It has to be a home run right? The board wouldn't vote down a superintendent recommendation without having something big lined up? Right?

You would think that, but remember who is making the choice.
This same thing happened after the 2005 season. A group just had to get rid of Chad Peterman who went 2-8 that year and they replaced him with a guy who went 3-7, 6-4, 3-7 and 2-8 over 4 years.

Knockout,
You're the one who said the job was filled, when are you going to let the rest of us know who it is?

The position has yet to be posted on the school website or OHSAA website.

depending on the next BOE meeting - maybe it is a done deal.

Travis Poland was the Head Coach of the 7th grade last season.
Jon McClusky and Blair Betts were the Asst. 7th grade coaches at Claymont last season.

It's becoming pretty clear... no one really knows. Clearly there won't be anything official until it is announced after spring break or at the next BOE meeting. Until then, hope for a posting on OHSAA I guess. Claymont deserves to have a seat at the table with the adults, not being forced to eat with spoons at the kids table. Let them boys eat!!!!
