Leisecki out at Claymont

Hard to believe not rehiring a coach that finished the season 8-2 and lost the last game on a controversial call. 1-9, 6-4 8-2 in three season. Not bad. Would love to know the reason behind the witch hunt

This is the same school that fired Scott Doak as head basketball coach, so it does not surprise me.

Its kinda sad they took down the Facebook post, it was rather amusing. I would love to know who would take this job or who the claymont board has in mind for Leisecki's replacement.

Going to be hard to attract a quality coach when they hear the previous guy went 8-2 and got fired

Yes. That one was a head scratcher for sure. I also saw one where their kid didn't get enough touches per game. Not sure what the whole story is on this one but I've been hearing grumblings from some Claymont fans the past two years about Leisecki. Guess they got what they wanted.

Some of the decisions T-county Board of Education's make when it comes to coaching votes are head scratching.

I think they should have listened to Scott Beckley last year when they had the opportunity. He was on to something and now its much harder to explain/rationalize the firing of a guy that went 8-2. Much deeper issues than what is seen by most.

In sports winning is deodorant, period. Urban Meyer and Nick Saban arenít saints, but they win... what youíve told everyone associated is that winning is secondary to adult agendas

Are you talking about Scott Beckley the old AD who tired to get the coach fired after the 2016 season? The season that saw Claymont improve from 1-9 in 2015 to 6-4 in 2016 and in which the team set a new school for rushing with over 3,000 yards, the old record was 2,260 yards set in 1994.

Are you saying it would have been easier to explain than firing the coach after the 2017 season in which the team tied the best record in school history at 8-2, set a new school record for most straight wins in a season with 8 (the old record being 7) and had a RB set a new school record for career rushing. And missed the playoffs on the last play of the last game of the season.

I noticed that one of the Board members who voted to fire the coach was Austin Beckley, any relation to the old AD Scott Beckley?

yes that same one. There are several factors that go into leading a program other than wins and losses. Unfortunately to the majority that it what is all about. Professional sports yes, but not high school sports. To the experts like you and I who sit on a chat board and claim to have all of the answers, yes it is all wins and losses. But high school sports is more than that. Its about teaching the young men how to be men and do the right thing, respect and integrity along with other things. There is also knowing how to be organized and prepared, how to handle assistant coaches and how to manage a budget. Oh, and how to run a biddy program and build for the future. And probably one of the most important, how to handle disgruntled parents that ALWAYS have the Division I athlete on the team and the correct play calls on Friday night. A coach must also follow the procedures established by the AD. So there are other things other than a win or a loss. Im willing to bet that those are some of the issues that were in question with the previous AD so much so that he was willing to go out on a limb and not recommend a coach that went from 1-9 to 6-4. If an athletic director is seeing something that is detrimental to the program, it is his or her duty to fix it. He is after all in charge of the athletic programs. There is more than meets the eye on this one.
And lets face it, some coaches are fortunate to come into a class or two of athletes that are so talented that they are going to win. One must also look at the opponents when these classes were in, was the opposition strong opponents or weak? What was the strength of Claymonts schedule this year? And last? Was that a factor in going 6-4 and 8-2? Could or should they have won another game or two in those two years? I dont know if that was the case or not, but that is another variable in the situation.

So yea pigskin, Im talking about the same person and team. Lets face it, Claymont parents and community arent known for supporting their coaches other than Toukenon. They arent smart enough to figure out that if you give a coach some time, maybe just maybe they can build a program. Not in two or three years, but eventually they can build one if given the chance.

Murdered Journey???? Please!

Completely agree here. You can't keep changing coaches every 2-3 years.

Me too. You'll have to ask the one parent that was claiming the coach cost her son a D I scholarship.

I know they haven't hired a new coach yet, but what are the odds of him lasting more than 3 years?

TCC Coach is available! 28-33 record
The fact this happened in March is the cherry on top of the incompetent cake Claymont's school board is baking.

It doesn't really matter who they hire, they'll be searching for another head coach in 2-3 years.

I hope they hire a coach who wants to be there and stays for 20 plus years and builds a top notch football program with regular trips to the playoffs.
But, I've hoped that since I started watching Claymont football in 1970.

I hope not, but with the inmates running the Asylum anything is possible.

To be fair though the Claymont school board has made some very good hires (Bardawil and Dennison) they just won't step up when someone else offers them more money 2 years later.

In the school districts that aren't complete dumpster fires the board only hires the superintendent.

In related news I heard the Claymont drama performance of Wizard of Oz was the best they have ever done and that the director will be voted down 3-2 to return at the next board meeting. 922! 922! 922!

Claymont board must have some real big time coaches up to fill the position. I can't wait to see who it is! I'm half nervous Coach Ifft is taking his talents to Uhrichsville...

so is anyone going to tell the rest of us what really went down or are we just going to have to put up with the bad jokes that we don't get lol

seriously - will next guy get a legit shot or will he be ran out of town in two years because the talent doesn't stack up to an 8 win season?
