Perry Panther 2018 Schedule

Responsible individual(s) should be nothing but utterly embarrassed with their results of providing an honest and competitive out of conference schedule for the 2018 Perry Panther Football Team

I admittedly know zero details of the why's and why not's...so my knowledge regarding this matter is on thin ice....BUT COME ON

Royal Imperial Collegiate..yes Canada...last year 1-7
Canton Central.....no complaint...backyard rival
West Toronto Prep...yes Canada...last year 1-3
Louisville...Is Louisville truly ready for their entire '18 schedule they signed up for??

I should have made myself available...I could have made a phone call to the Perry Youth Flag Football Team ...They have a heckuva 8 year old qb and wide receiver tandem...

I am a proud Panther guilty of airing its own dirty laundry...

This is dumbfounding and numbing...

Boys and Girls...have at it

The Canadian games are bad. The sooner OHSAA nullifies those games for Harbin purposes the better.

But Louisville is a good addition.

As long as it's kosher to play these Canadian "harbin cows", teams are going to schedule them.

Besides the obvious "harbins", what's to gain from playing these god-awful teams.
Certainly no one on the visitors side. No interest from the home side.
All you get is a lousy home game, that nobody gives a crap about.
I guess having a home game at least brings $$$ to the coffers. (Better than an open date)

Hardly "Harbin cows" with 2 wins between them.

What's it cost to bring Team Canada to town these days?

Bumpy, you have to take what you can get . Perry will have a new quarterback next year. Who ? I do not know. It will be hard to replace Baker. Those easier games should provide plenty of game time practice for the new qb. It hopefully will prepare for later in the season. As we all know, Perry teams always improve as the season progresses. I wouldn't sweat it. fyi Louisville is a good addition.

"The easier games should provide plenty of game time practice"
While McKinley's non-conference games has Warren Harding, Akron Buchtel, Florida's West Orange and Massillon.
That's an injustice to not only to your opponents and league but to your own kids of getting the short end of the practice time stick.
Each game is of value. Have your AD pick up the phone and do something better.
There is still months to go before the season.
That out of conference schedule is beyond pathetic.

Here is something to think about,

Perry and GlenOak both have games against Royal Imperial Coll. (Ontario), Perry week 1, GlenOak week 3.

Call AD at GlenOak and Massillon, see if they will move their game from week 3 to week 7. Both fill that open week.
GlenOak and Massillon are now both open week 2
Perry cancels Royal Imp team and looks at the possibilities of the open teams in week 1. GlenOak and Massillon now have new options week 2.

...BY THE WAY..., Massillon is still sitting with 3 open dates.
(TO McKinley fan who wants out of the Federal League, here's proof why it will not happen)
Massillon will have a full 10 game schedule just as they have every year.

I did not know WHS had a full slate.
All my posts deleted had no relevance after that was known.

I agree those games are not good but how is it an injustice to the league? It could be argued Perry having two guaranteed wins is good for the rest of the league.

It’s March why is it so imperative that the schedule is set in stone already. There also might be a team or 2 moving around on the schedule to open things up for other teams involved.

Erie McDowell had a listing for a week 3 opening (may still). That would've been a good game for Perry.

Massillon Perry 2018
8/24 H Royal Imperial Collegiate (ON)
8/31 H Canton Central Catholic
9/7 H West Toronto Prep (ON)
9/14 H Massillon Jackson
9/21 H Louisville
9/28 H North Canton Hoover
10/5 A Uniontown Green
10/12 H Uniontown Lake
10/19 A Canton McKinley
10/26 A Canton GlenOak

Playing two Canada teams unprecedented?

Not surprising with the increasing number of USA-rules football teams from Canada playing all their games north of the border. I believe Ignatius may also have two Canada teams this year.

In terms of D2R7, this is fine. It'll be hard not to qualify unless the regions are significantly changed.

But wow, if they were still in R1, this would be beyond bad. West Toronto Prep is D3 and Royal Imperial is D7. This is possibly a 9-1 and OUT kind of schedule. Perry is the largest D2 I think, and just a hair from the cutoff. I hope these aren't multi-year deals in case they bump back up a division.

Hudson also has a posting on the OHSAA website for a week 3 game opening for 2018.

Upon hearing that free safety and wide out (former jr.high QB) speedy Frank Sciury (6-2, 180) has been moved to QB this year, makes the Panther offense one that will be very formidable. With Jarin Curtis at FB and Richard Coleman at WB, along with the very fast sophomore to be Josh Lemon, returnee D’Vonte Armstrong WB and Kyle Middaugh spelling Curtis, this has the potential to be the fastest and deepest backfield Perry has had in many years.

Was told Hoban tried to schedule Massillon Perry for week 3 game and passed over for the Canadian team.

I was under the impression that Canadian teams did not count for Harbin, the divisor just changes by ten less the number of Canadian teams you play.

They count for Harbins. The only oddities you run into playing Canadian or out of state teams is the possibility their season ends later than ours and you miss out on the L2s from their last games.

thanks once again for the info Ed. With the positive changes by Wake and the staff, I expect Perry to be very tough again!

While not on topic of the schedule, I attended the open house of the new Career and Wellness Center tonight. The 16,000 sq. ft. auxiliary gym is impressive. They had it set up with 2 bball courts and 2 volleyball courts separated with netting. All with a 2 lane walking track on the outside with a knee friendly surface. The space for the culinary program was smaller than expected but the equipment was top notch. The trophies and memorabilia in the entry area was a nice touch.

Overall, a very nice addition to Perry High School.

I was there as well and it is a very nice facility. I hope the exercise part is done before 2019 tho.
