Interesting partial score from Aurora vs Tallmadge game. Anybody have any info as to how this played out? Seems like alot of runs surrendered by Tallmadge in only 4 innings, considering their quality pitching staff. Any idea when the game will be concluded?

Hays becomes only the 8th pitcher in OHSAA baseball history to record all 21 outs via strikeout in a 7 inning game. First done in 1945 and most recently done in 2016, the 92 pitches is in and of itself quite an accomplishment. Look for MLB scouts to be following the rest of this season armed with their radar guns.

Great game....big time atmosphere with large, loud crowd. Tallmadge has deep, talented roster. Hays from Copley is stud. I know he is big time pitching prospect but the ball jumps off his bat and he played outstanding in outfield. Look forward to the rematch between these two strong teams.

Tallmadge is first class group of kids. Extremely focused and talented. They got down 9-4, after 5, after one bad inning with a few errors, etc, but showed alot of grit in coming back from big momentum swing after Copley posted a big number taking the lead in the 4th inn. Copley for some reason pulled their starter at that point, and put in an inexperienced young kid who simply couldn't throw strikes, or deal with the talented Tallmadge lineup. An unexplained negative by pulling the Copley starter, was compounded by not having the kid's bat in the lineup after the 4th, as he was not put back into the lineup. By the time the young man got pulled, the damage had been done. Give Copley credit for trying to fight back, but you can't give Tallmadge more than 3 outs in any inning. The home plate umpire was an interesting guy, tossing one Tallmadge fan, writing down a few Copley players names for what he referred to as a "written warning", whatever that is. His strike zone was bizarre for both teams, but Copley seemed the victim on balls and strikes after that. Certainly don't think it effected the outcome though, just a poor job handling the strike zone, and silly written warnings. I'm sure the Monday rematch will be much closer, as Tallmadge will have to deal with Hayes, which won't be easy. All in all, an entertaining high school game with alot of fan support, which you don't often see in high school baseball.

I'm curious what Tallmadge's pitching situation looks like for Monday. I'm guessing it will be Burick but not sure if he pitched in Indiana today or yesterday. Tallmadge is a little thin on pitching right now after getting all these games in during such a short span.

I assume it will be Burick vs Hayes. What's interesting is why Copley didn't throw Hayes at home Thursday vs Tallmadge. That way he would have had enough days rest to throw two important league games, ie: Tallmadge on Thursday, then Highland on Tuesday. Now, assuming weather ok, Hayes will miss one of the Highland games.

If my memory is correct Hays pitched the 21K 1 hitter vs Revere last week that amounted to 97 pitches making him unable to throw vs Tallmadge at Home due to pitch count rules.

My understanding is they had him pitch the Revere game because they lost to them the night before.....didnít want to take the risk of going 0-2 to start League play. Eventually someone else is going to have to step up for Copley as Hays will basically only pitch once a week. They had Tallmadge down late in the game but walks did them in...as it did in the loss to Revere. They must have walked close to 10 guys in each game. Pitching depth is why you have to like Tallmadge to win the League Championship.

Once all of these league games continue to get backed up due to our wonderful Spring weather, pitching depth will surely get tested. Hayes can't pitch every game, and there is little behind him.
