With Dover now being D1 in basketball and D2 in football, will this change anything. Will league movement be hastened?:

John Glenn (D IV 262)
Philo (D IV 242)
Cambridge (D IV 234)

Meadowbrook (D V 210)
West Muskingum (D V 172)
Coshocton (D V 170)
Crooksville (D VI 134)

5 division games and 2 crossovers. This would have been a done deal a few years ago if they would have went Large/Small..
I don't see the geography of this working

always thought Cambridge and Meadowbrook would be a package

How about Marietta and Warren to MVL? I want the TVC to add Warren but I doubt that happens

I don't know what it does for league affiliation needs, but I do know that Dover just want from a great basketball and a good football job to almost mediocre to bad jobs with these assignments. Much like Louisville when they bumped to D1 in hoops-- what was a pretty good job because an impossible job.

Well the OCC is at an impasse. West Holmes rejected everything, including adding Dover and NP. Last year they blocked Shelby. Maybe it's time to move on from West Holmes!!!

I would not get in front of your skis. Since River View left the MVL in 2004 there have been teams from Licking, Hocking, Washington, Coshocton, Muskingum, Guernsey, and Tuscarawas that have "applied" to be in the MVL. Some wanted to be the 10th team. Some wanted to be part of a 12 team or 16 team 2 division set up. All were voted down. Including the teams and division break down shown on this thread.

It takes a 75% current member vote for a team to join the MVL. That means a minimum of 7 out of 9. There are some schools that have been very vocal over the years that they will not vote yes until it is unanimous.

No one wants a situation like the SEOAL where teams were added and charter members start leaving until the league disbanded.

It is also a possibility that a 10th team is added, they go 5/5 big school/small school divisions with 4 in division and 3 crossover and only one of the schools mentioned finds a new home.

Don't expect any news (if there is any) until winter sports are over. Maybe a good ways into spring sports.

Oh, and according to a poster on a south east ohio site, Marietta and Warren are trying to get into the Tri-Valley Conference (TVC) with Athens, Nelsonville, etc.

My understanding now is that Zanesville is still working on an exit but it is not imminent, maybe the ECOL scarlet could bring in Steubenville for football only. Would Marrietta stay?
Otherwise I think Dover is heading for independent status for a while.

I'm from Athens. The TVC won't add those two. I wish the TVC would add Warren. The TVC will probably add Fort Frye since the PVC is dying. Everyone thinks Athens will make the SEOAL 2.0 but Athens seems pretty content right now

I would trade West Holmes for Dover and New Philly in a heartbeat. It would be the best thing that could happen to the OCC.

That's part of the problem. You are just too darn nice to be a rival:

Coshocton and RiverView are not a package deal.

Cambridge and Meadowbrook are not a package deal.

For 6 of the ECOL teams it is every school for themselves. Don't be the team left in the league version of musical chairs without a seat.

Dover and New Philly HAVE been a package deal for years.

Well it seems my dress down of West Holmes for voting no on all proposals has a partner in crime. Lexington voted no on all proposals also. Medina Buckeye was a possible 8th team. So now for the time being, everyone gets to find a NCG for weeks 4-10.

Dover & New Philly

Perhaps Dover & Phila should try to form their own league by pursuing the larger NBC teams. Team, Enrollment, (CB Enrollment).
Dover 376 (390)
Phila 359 (372)
Louisville 337 (344)
Alliance 333 (351)
Marlington 321 (323)
Carrollton 261 (271)
Canton Central 129 (167)

Some assumptions are that Dover wants to leave the ECOL,that is 100% false, they were not looking to leave until it became known that every school was looking at other options except for phila,at that point they knew they had to explore other options. If the ECOL scarlet can be saved I am sure Dover would be happy to stay but the current situation is dire for the scarlet. I think the gray is in pretty good shape with Cambridge joining and if the scarlet does go out I think Marietta would fit in nicely

This would be near perfect, maybe sub Wooster for Carrollton.

Would be, but won’t be. I think the new EBC would have to fall apart before Alliance or Marlington joined a league like the one above.

How about,
Dover
Louisville
Wooster
Canton Central
Steubenville
Phila
Zanesville I know it's a lot of miles but it is an easy drive.

Doubt Steubenville or Zanesville would like the drive (90+ miles each way)

Adding Wooster would probably scare off Alliance and Marlington. Yes the EBC would have to be ready to fold for those teams to leave, but I think it is only matter of time before the members boot Alliance like they did Louisville.
