CMAC is back 2018

After a couple of seasons the SOPL is breaking up and the CMAC will go back to its own league. Here are my EARLY preseason predictions.

1.Taft
(Top Team by a lot)

2. Aiken
3. Western Hills
4. Hughes
5.Woodward
(These 4 are all in the same boat and can finish in any order)

6.Shroder
7.Gamble
8.Riverview
(Shroder is down... Gamble and Riverview are small)

I saw this for Aiken:

Cincinnati Aiken
08/24 A Cincinnati North College Hill
08/31 A Cincinnati Walnut Hills
09/07 H Cincinnati Indian Hill
09/14 A Cincinnati Western Hills
09/21 H Cincinnati Shroder
09/28 A Cincinnati Woodward
10/05 H Grant County (KY)
10/13 A Lucas
10/19 H Cincinnati Hughes
10/26 A Cincinnati Taft

I'd note that Gamble and Riverview East are not on the schedule.

They are not going to play some of the bigger schools since they are D6/7.

There are entirely too many highschools. So the talent pool is either concentrated at one place or its far too diluted. Then you have the general issues that all programs deal with along with the other issues that a lot of the cps schools face. I say all that to say its not horrible. Could it be better? Of course it could be, but you need to get kids out and they have to buy in. That doesn't always happen so you can only coach what you have and you can only play who's on your schedule.

Is CPS still school or choice rather than neighborhood schools? IMO that hurts sports more than helps, if you have a kid from Price Hill attending Withrow, how many buses and how much time is spent on a bus going to and from home/school.

Yep, still choice. So you could be in Sayler Park and attend Riverview East. Also, it's open enrollment, so I have heard kids in North college hill going all the way to Woodward or Mt. Healthy to Shroder. To say transportation is an issue is an understatement. This is why Withrow will leave ECC, getting home from away games after 11 is a gigantic issue for their students since 90% ride the Metro.

I'm happy to see CMAC football is back! I would love to see them face other city league schools from across the state. Hopefully interest will build up from the kids who currently not playing.

Maybe horrible is the wrong word overall for CPS FOOTBALL. Although I have seen some terrible games at Woodsard, Hughes Riverview East etc. I just think it's not very good football. I'm rooting for them though. It's a hard battle.

I believe students from Oyler can play at another school since they do not have football. I'm not sure if they can choose what school or if it's nearest location.

If kids are living in North College Hill, they should attend NCH high school. If the live in NCH and going to a CPS, would be against the rules. Now if they live in College Hill, it's different.

Um it is not against the rules as CPS is open enrollment. You could live anywhere in the state and attend a CPS school.

CPS is open enrollment, so if they can get transportation to a CPS school, they can go. It was posted above NCH kids going to Woodward, Mount Healthy, Shroder, etc., but that would actually be against the rules at Mount Healthy because it is not open enrollment. But you saying NCH kids should go to the high school there is laughable....there are kids on the Winton Woods football team who live in NCH, including one very very very good football player.

I thought PCS just went away from neighborhood schools. Didn't know they were open enrollment.

A lot of people don't know that CPS is open(statewide) enrollment. I distinctly remember a few ESL kids living in Milford and going to Withrow.

Most inner city teams will always have an abundance of speed and talent at the "specialty" positions. Whichever team can develop a decent line play can run away with the conference title.

Taft has QB, RBs, and WRs all coming back next year, but graduated a lot of linemen last year. Making the playoffs for a 4th year in a row is up to lineman development.

Aiken has first team all state safety/running back Kievaughn Sanks coming back.

Western Hills has one of the top running backs in the city in Kayvon Britten.

Hughes is coming back with De'Zion Coleman at WR, CB, and KR.

Hopefully Aiken, Western Hills, and Hughes can find more key players to help out the individual stars of each team.

Britton Kid is LEGIT.....
Every year we have had "haters" saying Aiken isn't going to do anything and have been proved wrong. FINALLY able to control our schedule like someone else in our league so that should help....

Rule is if a school does not field ANY athletic teams, a student can play at another school. This was the Digital Academy loophole. I believe it is changed this year that the student-athlete can only play now at the next closest school to his/her home of his home school doesn't have an athletic department.
