Just curious, who makes you better long term, that you’d pass over the 5-7 years James has left?

I would probably only take Giannis over him. And that is a stretch

Yeah, that’s a tough question, isn’t it? Giannis is a great talent, but he may never take the Bucks to a title game. Switch James for Giannis and the Bucks are title contenders for the next 5 years.

AD would also be in the conversation if it were drafting a player for the rest of their careers. Injury history is concerning though.

That is the other one I thought about but as you said injury history is tough.

Just go to settings and turn off injuries

You're right. It is 5 on 5, which means one players impact is significantly more than any other sport. In any sport, the best is most relevant in basketball.

So who do you have for rookie of the year in the NBA? Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers, Donavan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, or someone else?

Damn, we were so close to getting a Thunder-Warriors first round series but it'll be the Spurs, which I don't expect to put up much of a challenge without Kawhi

The Spurs would actually have a great chance with Kawhi against a Curry-less Warriors team that's 7-10 in their last 17 games.

Unfortunately, Kawhi is apparently a complete bit*h.

I hope we find out what happened in San Antonio. Probably won't be for 5-10 years after Pop retires, if at all.

Seriously, how great would a Curry-less Warriors/Thunders series have been? I guess there's still a chance we get it in the second round, but assume the dubs will have their swag back by then, along with a healthy Curry

I think any trust of Rick Pitino in anything not for Rick Pitino would be questioned...

However, we've also seen that for some reason, Utah probably hits on their first round draft picks more than about any other franchise. Now the players never seem to stay in Utah for more than their first contract unless they are named Stockton and Malone, but they've had a nice run of good young players over the years. You just wonder if Mitchell would have had the same success with other teams.

I think the Warriors are in trouble. Curry will only be at limited ability, even if he does come back, and they are just not the same without him. KD is showing just how valuable Curry is.
I really like the Rockets to come out of the West this year. I think the east is really a toss up.

Curry may not be as explosive when he comes back but the biggest thing he will bring back is his shooting. His ability to shoot but dam near anywhere past half court opens up the game for KD and Klay. Now if he can't figure out his shot or he can only stand in the corner and shoot - then yes they'll be in trouble. They kind of lucked out getting San Antonio, unless Kawahi makes a miraculous return. Portland could give them issues in the 2nd Round but they should be favored in that one as well, no one can match up with Durant. Interested to see how the OKC- Utah series plays out - think OKC can give Houston a run for their money.

Not so worried about them vs. San Antonio, but I think the deeper they go, KD can get his, but what effect does Thompson/ Green/ and the bench have without an effective Curry. I just think this is Houston's year, they have so many weapons and they spread you out so much. You have to have someone who can guard Harden. He's so good at breaking the defense down, and he's a great free throw shooter.

Well they're gonna have the Pelicans next round, which will be more of a challenge than the offensively inept Spurs, but there's no way New Orleans is beating Golden State more than twice. Frankly, the dominoes out West have fallen into place perfectly for the Warriors, yet again

If only the Pellies had Cousins. Warriors struggled with the Spurs when they had Timmy/Pau.

The way the Pelicans are playing compared to Portland I'm sure GS would like to see the Blazers.

Yeah I mean that's clear at this point. Not sure what happened to Portland, they were the hottest team in the league until about the final week of the season

But more important, can Curry defend? Who's he going to guard. He struggles on defense when he's 100%. I just think he's not going to be 70% or less and for a small guy, he needs to be at full strength. Thompson can be streaky, so I think if you can make GS one dimensional, being Durrant. We've already seen the Warriors lose with Durrant having big games.

Curry hides on the weakest offensive player from the other team anyways. It'll only be a problem if his offense is up to snuff.
