2-1 Win over X in 10 innings. Pitching has been nothing short of outstanding to start the season. Gigantic game Wed at UC v Moe. Moe coming off a 6-0 win over LS.

With Nieman pitching against X, it's gotta be Klingenbeck on Wednesday right?

Tough Loss, but it’s pretty clear Elder is capable of competing with any team this year. The Pitching Staff is deep and can carry them through sluggish games offensively.

Anyway, the team heads to TN this weekend.

Varsity wins 6-5. Deciding Run was scored by stealing home in the top of the 7th. Excellent win for Elder.

Elder had a 2nd game on Sat, they won 10-2. I believe that puts them at 12-1 on the yr. They’ve got a game scheduled tom v LS, but that seems unlikely to happen.

You are correct. Today's games have been cancelled. Varsity game will be played on Wednesday at 5PM at the PAC.

They should be able to get both the Wed and Fri game in without much issue. The only crappy part is the Fri game at GABP will be in chili weather.

Edit: Wed starting to look sketchy. High of 71, low of 39 with rain.

I don't know much about the younger players but I saw where Colton Sandhas, a sophomore pitched 1 game for 6 innings and struck out 10. Great stats for one game. Does anyone know what team he pitched against. Any other background on this young man.

Elder was down 3-1 and scored two to tie it in the middle of the game (bottom 4th?). Bottom 8th Kearns singles to lead off the inning and Bittner strikes out trying to bunt him to 2nd. Kearns got caught off 1st on the strikeout and ends up getting thrown out at 2nd. Tough because that same stretch of the lineup put together 3-4 hits in a row to tie the game at 3. Hindsight is 20-20 and the obvious baseball move os to get that runner to 2nd. Tough loss.

The GCL seems as tight as I can remember. Elder has had close wins over LS and X, with close losses to Moe and LS. X has beaten Moe once. Seems like anyone of the 4 can beat the other on any given day. Haven't been able to say that for awhile.

Yes, the GCL is highly competitive this yr. All 4 teams are very good. Badin is also one of the best in D3.

Thru 7 innings it is Elder 0 Lasalle 0. Going into the 8th.

The young man Sandhas I asked about above gave up NO hits thru his seven innings of work. Kid must have some good stuff.

From Elder Baseball Twitter

@Elder_Baseball

Sandhas goes 7, No Hits!
Aufderbeck takes over bottom of 8

Elder still lost 1-0. This is now 3 Ls in a row. The bullpen is shaky and the Offense is slumping. Impressive outing for Sandhas, but it’s still a loss, which is all that matters.
