Interesting tidbit

Heard on 700 today...

There have been more pitchers used in the first 4 days of this season than all of the year 1968. I found that astounding.

Anybody read about the Phillies? Opening Day, Gabe Kapler pulled the starter with 68 pitches in the sixth inningand a 5-0 lead, after letting the starter bat for himself in the top of the inning. Bullpen gave up 8 runs and Phillies lose 8-5.

Game two, Kapler uses nine pitchers in an 11 inning game. Pulled his starter after the fourth inning

Game three in the third inning, Kapler calls on a reliever who hadn't thrown a single warm up pitch and had to go into the game cold. Phillies give up 15 runs and used another 5 pitchers including a position player to finish the game. The bullpen is already screwed up three games into the year

Funny seeing Kapler fall on his face imo. He's a dbaģ

The fact he continues to try to defend them by saying his bullpen is the strength of the team is even more alarming. Lucky for him the Philly's still flying high from the Eagles and Nova so it's kinda going under the radar.

Just a note, the pitcher in the 3rd inning did actually warm up, which got the Braves manager heated up and eventually tossed. Umpire used excellent judgment in that situation, allowing the pitcher additional time to warm up. Last thing you wanted there was for the pitcher to get hurt due to a correctable error by the manager.

It's amazing that that many pitchers has been used already. I've always felt guys don't throw enough today. Way too much specialization, way too cautions on arm injuries. Guys need to throw more to build up arm strength and durability.

He never threw a pitch in the bullpen, he warmed up on the mound. The point is Kapler made a moronic mistake by calling in a cold pitcher
